3. I was going to say The Thing
But it turns out that is a 1982 movie. Still good, though. (And not particularly trashy, sorry for wasting your time. I'll let myself out).

7. If you're a Sid Haig fan, I had dinner with him last year.
He's a good friend of my best friend's husband, and we all had dinner together at a convention in Atlanta. He's such a cool guy! He's lived all over the world and is very well-educated. :D

20. I dig Sid in House of 1000 Corpse and Devils Rejects
I saw him at a SciFi convention in Hollywood a few years ago. Also there was Karen Black, Fred Williamson, Tom Savini and Vampira(!)

8. Depends on what you call trashy.
One of my favorite horror movies of all time was made in the seventies. Some trash it while others put it on their top list of horror movies.

11. That movie came in at #100 on the Village Voice's critics' poll of the
best 100 films of the 20th century - not horror films, of all films.

15. I still haven't seen it, but I remember the commercials for it,
like it was yesterday. A woman's voice whispering "Suspiria" several times, over a few clips from the movie. That was the commercial for it that played on TV when it first came out. "Suspiria... Suspiria ...Suspiria ...Suspiria ...Suspiria..." It was the best way I've ever seen them drill the title of a film into your mind - which is I guess the point of all advertising about movies, to sell you that title, so that when you go to a theater, you pick that one.

12. Shock Waves (1977)
"This horror movie concerns a shipwrecked yachting party. Rose (Brooke Adams) and her fellow yacht-mates, including the captain (John Carradine) run aground on an island when they hit an odd-looking freighter. Once beached, they meet up with an aging SS Commander (Peter Cushing) who had been in charge of a crew of zombies."

Something about this movie really creeped me out.

14. The schlockier, the better.
Only 70s horror films I'm not thrilled with are The Amityville Horror (too stupid even for schlock) and It's Alive (never got into it).

16. We laughed and laughed at "The Devil's Nightmare" 1971 - unintentionally
funny French-Belgian "thriller" which was pretentious and not a bit scary.

32. Spawn of the Slithis

A nuclear leak creates a mutant Slithis sea monster, which terrorizes the variety of pets, winos, and hippies who hang around Venice, California. A VERY bad rip off of the classic Creature From The Black Lagoon. I remember seeing this in the theater and they passed out these "Slithis Survival Kits" so you can survive a Slithis attack outside of the theater. Now that I liked. They need to bring back gimmicks like that again, where masked monsters attack you in the theater, the "shocker" put in random seats, the Flying Skeleton Ianthe House on Haunted Hill.
