I hope everybody had a good night's sleep and is ready to begin their day, or a smooth shift at work and is ready to go home for some much-needed rest.


Everything is fine for me. I have about two hours left before I get off work. Then I have to hang around until the MVA opens so I can renew my driver's license. I may go to grab a bagel and coffee while waiting. :donut: Then I head home to bed.

14. My main beef with the ME

was that I have abosolutely zero working knowledge of the situation/history, so its a lot of reading...a ton of reading on the subject...i'm pretty naive when it comes to those relations....

All I have to go on is what I see on the news, and I usually dont' believe in half of what I hear on the mainstream news, and I have zero knowlegde of the history of the I/P conflict...that, makes it hard for me, a lot of the other mods are pretty jimmy on the spot...

If I ever became a mod I'd have to be off in the small groups, never the big forums. I have a few books at home so I can get a basic background knowledge of the ME situation, but I haven't read them yet so I'm not well versed in it.

I have been reading some online stuff, as well as some of the bigger threads on DU on the subject, and I'm still forming an opinion. I thought it was quaint, that the first main things to come my way were on a subject I know zero about...:)

Other than that, its fine...its not hard work, but I was surprised at how much effort is put into moderating this site, it took me by surprise....

back, especially with the language...the lounge sorta spoiled me on my cursing, so its sorta hard in that respect. There have been a few threads where I wanted to jump head first into, but was more cautious in my approach. But other than that, its been fine. I am on here a bunch, and finding posts to respond in, are sorta few and far between, with being a mod, there is hardly ever a shortage of ...issues, to be talked/discussed about.

22. well there are certain terms, and expressions that

are considered inflammatory, or inappropriate, and I wasn't aware of some of those names, or in short, the rhetoric. I would read some threads, and see nothing wrong, and other more experienced mods would read the same one and see a lot of things wrong with it...

for example, my main field is American Indian Studies....if someone was to post "that their great grandmother was a cherokee princess"...a lot of Duers would find nothing wrong with that...on the other hand, a lot of American Indians(and myself) especially the cherokee find that term offensive...:)

Its just a matter of knowing the lingo/issues, and when I first started, I knew nothing, and wasn't afraid to admit it...

Do you get to take a new pic for the renewal of the drivers license? I still have a pic in it from when I was 17 :hide: :blush: Since we do have an ID we keep our driver lisence from the day we get it till the end (unless you lose it of course).

Going west was relatively easy, all I had to do was stay up late. Within a couple of days I had it sorted. But coming back east totally screwed me up. I left Vancouver at 9pm and landed in London at 2:40pm...I didn't know whether I was coming or going.
