Ron Howard: A Portrait of the Artist as a Bald Man
Rabrrrrrr has this serious, brooding portrait hanging over his fireplace. At the end of a long day slogging through carts of abandoned, unruly children at the local Pay-n-Poop Supermarket, kicking knuckledragging reality-show-addicted fundies in the shin, and critiquing Rachael Ray's oeuvre of "Breakfast for $198.45 A Day" menus, Rabrrrrrr fixes himself a dry martini, fills the bowl of his favorite pipe with the finest tobacco, and fires up the DVD player with one of the finest masterworks of Ron Howard's film canon.

What shall it be this evening? Cocoon, featuring his favorite crusty old actor, Wilford Brimley?

Splash?

Parenthood?

The Grinch Who Stole Christmas?

Or is Rabrrrrrr just a Ron Howard dilettante? A pretender who once caught the last 5 minutes of The Paper on AMC after a gin-soaked bender and figured this gave him lasting insight on his work?

Or is Rabrrrrrr the greatest Ron Howard fan alive, whose sole mission is to spread the word everywhere on the inimitable genius that is Opie??

10. Fingers crossed and knocking on wood
that this pattern continues (and lighting candles, lifting all good things to the winds, whatever it takes).

:hi:

5. I don't know how to say this nicely so I'm just gonna say it.
He looks fuckable. Sorry. The first photo I've ever seen where Opie was a contender.

6. I used to go with a friend to each and every new Opie Cunningham joint,
for the early show, but tell another friend that we'd meet him there for the late show, without disclosing that we'd just seen the movie. Then we'd drop little hints about what was going to happen next, like Michael Keaton losing it in GUNG HO or Don Ameche (or whoever) dying in COCOON. This victim/friend was famous for his rages whenever he was made the butt of jokes: these fits of fury were known as "Cornish Hens." So we'd wind him up through the movie and revel in the fact that propriety and cinema etiquette would prevent him from having a cornish hen, even at that snapping point where he'd realize we'd both already seen the film. He never did connect it with Ron Howard particularly, I don't think.

Yes, it was a jerky thing to do. But it was funny!

I'll buy the extended 6-DVD Super Duper Director's Cut with limited edition (of 28 billion) Kinkade original photocopied color page of artwork.
