Who's coming to Folklorama with me?
http://www.folklorama.ca/folklorama.php

Experience the energy of Folklorama, the largest and longest running multicultural event of its kind in the world! From traditional home-cooked meals to electrifying nightly performances by local, national and international entertainers, Folklorama will create a feast for the senses as you experience 40-plus cultural pavilions. Take home a keepsake of your visit by exploring the cultural display areas found in each pavilion.

$4 for each pavilion.

Week 1, I'm thinking:
Chile
Cuba
Japan
Russia
Greece
and, either Paraguay or Serbia

Week 2:
Brasil
Czech & Slovak
India
Korea
Poland
Romania

2. Perfect time for a trip
:)

And yes, it's LOTS of fun. Music, dancing, amazing food! I only wish there was time and money to do all the pavilions.

4. Wish I had the money.
Callie could bring you one of her pirate hats and a parrot if we could get there.

6. Wheeeeee!
I could take her on the life-size replica of the Nonsuch and we could play pirate on a REAL OLD TIMEY BOAT!

7. I just showed her the picture.
Now she's begging for a trip!

I think you now have a new best friend and she's a six year old American.

9. I can see that now.
I still have you on my Yahoo messenger, even though I'm rarely on there. I'll try to remember to have her leave you a voice message on Talk Like a Pirate Day. She's been practicing for it for a time now.

11. She's been working on it
but she wants a new pirate name.

We've discussed how, if it falls on a school day, she can talk like a pirate only at recess and lunch. I'm not in the mood to go to the principal's office for that discussion.

She's yelling "Arrr!" as we speak.

13. If I had a bigger home
you'd be the first person I'd contact. Who knows what she'd drag you to see here so be advised of that.

Right now she's watching Harry and the Hendersons. She wants to know if we can go camping, find a Big Foot and bring him/her home as her new roommate.

3. Holy Crap! Has the price ever gone up!
I remember back in the '70s when it first started. You could get a passport (good for all pavilions) for $4. My favourite was always the Mug Pub at the U of M.

17. Sounds much more interesting
than the Heritage Days festival here (similar premise, only over a long weekend). :toast:

The Winnipeg Fringe is over, isn't it?

19. My ex's brother lives in the Peg
and I'm surprised at the number of festivals!

I should just spend one summer there, and take it all in.

Our Fringe Festival is coming up!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Love, love, love the Fringe. The aforementioned ex is in a play, and I'll look at the guide when it comes out to see if I know any more. See if I can bum any more comp tickets... ;-)
