25. Me too ...
I would've thought he'd be the one bitchslapping the 9/11 republicans instead of becoming one.

13. Not as clever as he's hyped to be, not as bad as he's accused of being
I always thought he was over-rated, never liked his early show. His jokes and takes are just verbal slapstick, but for some reason some people think he's intellectual. He's funny at times, but no depth, no originality. Comedy at it's best operates on two levels, making us laugh at the absurd while questioning the underlying truth of the joke. Miller never realized he was supposed to do the second part of that.

He was a better football analyst than he gets credit for being, though. When he stopped trying to work his pre-scripted routines into the show and just talked about the actual game, he was pretty good.

Are no substitution for talent.

No real talent, no sustaining career. End of story.

29. No, he's an opportunist.
He went along with the conservative trend because that's where the money was. I'm sure that if we elect a Democratic president and congress, he'll quickly become liberal again.

34. Miller on HBO - The First Da Ali G
Many years ago, I started to receive HBO on cable, even though I didn't order it. First it was fuzzy and then the reception became progressively better. The Dennis Miller Show was one of the best things on HBO (For the record, I refuse to watch "serials" which require me to keep tuning in, think - The Sopranos). As an ex-SNL guy, Miller was able to attract his liberal and progressive friends to be guests on the show. One night, I started to notice that Dennis Miller's politics were not the same as his guests. What made it especially funny was that his liberal guests were completely clueless and presumed that all of their "friends" had the same predictable viewpoints. It was like the Da Ali G show. Dennis would say something witty, intelligent and conservative (more accurately, his libertarian meets neocon viewpoint), and the guest would go on oblivious to the fact that their typical Hollywood political doctrine had just been challenged . Actress Alfre Woodard was a particularly unintentionally funny guest. She was ranting and raving about Bush and Ashcroft, and had no clue (like most of the show's guests in those days) that Dennis didn't share her opinions adn was scoring with repeated jabs at those positions. She also appeared clueless regarding Ashcroft's actual backround (only knowing him as a caracature - the bad guy conservative that other liberals had told her she wasn't supposed to like). Dennis even commented (truthfully by the way) about how gracious Ashcroft was in that Missouri Senate race where the Democratic candidate died in a plane crash (and his wife replaced him on the ticket). Hopefully, liberals haven't reached such a low level of intolerance that they can't laugh at themselves and give a good touche' to the humor on the other side. With humor, virtually nothing should be sacred. Now, if you want to aim at Dennis Miller, you should do it from the perspective of a football fan. Miller sucked on Monday Night Football (except for a good line "There is no such thing as minor groin surgery")

37. It's the Clueless Guest Thing
No! Miller's show (back when the guests repeatedly and incorrectly presumed Dennis was liberal from SNL) was like the Da Ali G segments where the guests are clueless regarding the "rapper's" questions and comments. It was funny for anyone with a sense of humor and some political savvy to know that Dennis wasn't what everyone thought he was.
By the way, I'm looking forward to the Borat movie (Hopefully, it won't be as bad as the last "comedian" movie "Larry the Cable Guy - Health Inspector" -No I didn't see Larry's movie - I took the word of the critics and www.imdb.com and saved the $8 and the 1 1/2 hours)
