i went to a full gospel pentecostal service this morning
plenty of people drunk in the spirit, laying of hands all around, some speaking in tongues, and the rockin' band belted out an awesome version of el shaddai.

3. or on a plane.
sorry.

yes, you are right, the folks in appalachia do the snake thing. and the other stuff too. and every other damned thing. My ex's grandfather is a pentacostal minister AND a serious porn addict. The best of both worlds, I guess.

Just so I could yell "You're faking!"

7. That's exactly what I always want to do whenever someone in
the congregation started speaking in tongues. However, I restrained myself, and restricted myself to silent giggles with a friend of mine.

11. I'm not sure it is faking....
but I don't believe it's the manifestation of a god either. I think it's a self-induced psychosis.

10. Hey, if it works, more power to them.
I'm getting fed up with preaching to the same group of elderly white people who think they know what it means to be a Christian, yet treat one another shamefully. They don't treat me much better, either.

12. My former pastor (long since retired) used to tell me regularly ..
.. that he thought certain people in his congregation were possessed by demons.

His wife sometimes said, more directly, "O, so-and-so's full of s***." I always considered her theology practical.

13. It's certainly more descriptive.
And probably more accurate.
I've often wondered if most of our congregational problems couldn't be solved with a dose of Ex-lax and Viagra.

15. I love the term "full gospel."
As if other churches were only 50% or 75% gospel. Or maybe "empty gospel."
