I thought all of you southerners drank southern champagne (iced tea). Having a scotch and soda here. We have to keep warm here in the vast northern waste land that is Canada. Heh........it's actually 95 degrees here today, so I am putting ice in my drink. Usually I drink it neat.

16. Being a mod has been very interesting

And I'd have to say that overall I have definitely enjoyed it. It has given me a new appreciation for what goes on at DU, especially from Skinner, EarlG, and Elad's perspectives. It's not too difficult and the time commitment isn't too bad, but you won't be able to post and read DU as much as you can as a member. Before I was a mod I sepnt a lot of time reading GDP and posting there and would go into GD when I couldn't find anything interesting in GDP. Since I moderate GD I have to spend much of my time keeping an eye on it and a lot of time moderating in general, so I don't get to post in GDP or even in GD like I used to.

26. Recovering slowly but surely

Parts of New Orleans and the surrounding areas look like they did before Katrina and life for many has returned to normal. But sometimes drive another mile down the road and you are still very much reminded of what happened. BTW, all of the stuff about crime that you hear on the national media is totally over-hyped. Yea we've had a few shootings (drug dealers shooting other drug dealers) but that's the case in every major city, so I don't see why people are so afraid of it. I guess people think that we don't have a functioning police force, but the truth is that our police force is functioning fine.

Things in my part of the world are hot, and hot...we finally moved in my inlaws into their new house, and they are almost all settled in. Oh, and moving sucks by the way!...:) Other than that, I've been pretty laid back most of the summmer...had some family down in July...took them to a KC Royals game...it was nice going back to a big league field...:)
