Frig. UK Pound is 1.91/1...
Now the latest Doctor Who and Alexei Sayle DVDs I want will cost almost twice as much.

Still, I should be ditching this stuff altogether and try to make friends...

Anyone know what a tv-obsessed geek can do to make friends; which subjects are mutually compatible?

1. Volunteer for a campaign or the Dem party.
Go to a DFA meeting or a DU meetup. I've met lots of great folks doing those things.

2. I just sit there at those things.
And listen.

It's fun.

But I still feel like an alien in amongst my own people.

3. Volunteer Work
It will get you out of the house and away from the cursed television demon. I was on a down spiral last fall and volunteering to help people worse off than myself made me appreciate just how good my life was. My choice was one of the local AIDS hospices. I made so many friends. Both staff and patients. Letting go of the patients was hard. Still is. But it's a great feeling to know that one can make a difference to somebody who has been abandoned by family and friends because of a stupid stigma. I really encourage you to try volunteer work. It's very rewarding.

5. And that's the saddest prospect of them all...
Unless I emigrated, but who wants a Yank?

But just think, I'd move over and introduce myself to people in gay bars saying "Hi, my name is -----. Wanna crank a Yank?"

:wow:

6. YAY for Alexei Sayle!!
Apart from his turn in The Young Ones I always assumed he was unknown in the US.

Are you a member of UKNova HypnoToad? You'd have lots of free torrenty UK TV fun there.
