Kobayashi Eats Record 58 Brats In Contest

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -- The world's best competitive eater has chomped his way to another win.

Japan's Takeru Kobayashi has consumed a record 58 bratwursts, without buns, at the Johnsonville World Bratwurst Eating Championship in Sheboygan, Wis. That beat the record of 34 and a half, set last year by Virginia's Sonya Thomas.

Kobayashi won $8,000.

The 160-pound Kobayashi is a seasoned veteran at 27. But in the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest in New York on July Fourth, he narrowly beat 22-year-old Joey Chestnut of San Jose, Calif.
