8. LOL...The Isleys' version was the first version I heard.

Then I heard Isaac Hayes's version. I found out several years later that it was a Dylan song. I've heard Anthony Hamilton's, also, but I've never heard the original (in full) or any of the others.

Richie Havens. I'd rather see a poll on "All Along the Watchtower".... of course, even though Jimi did an outstanding cover, I think Dave Mason did the best... but I guess I was digressing.

It's just that Lay, Lady Lay is one of my fave all around covers, no matter whoever does it

14. agreed..and it's a great song
with amazing covers....Dylan just seems to bring the best out in other artists.

I met Richie a number of years ago..an amazing guy, so I'm partial.
