Hummingbirds.

Yes. Hummingbirds. The little shiny feathery flower-drinking ones.

Those fights they get into the feeders: full-on war.

I see one at the feeder outside my window just now...another one buzzes it to try and chase it away and they get into a little sword fight with their beaks. Then...OMG...one gets behind the other, grabs it by the...erm...shoulders, I guess, and *sticks* it's *beak* into the back of the other one's *head*. :wow: Did the other one drop out of the air, dead?...nonono, it continued struggling, and the one on its back at the litterally jiggle it's head to dislodge its beak when pulling it out.

:wow:

Little fuckers are vicious!! :o

who spent an entire summer running for cover after he'd killed a nestful of jay-babies. Ma and Pa Blue-jay would initiate a blitz-kreig attack anytime he set foot outside. I felt bad for the cat, but it WAS hilarious to watch.

*edit for typo

I don't know anything about birds, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.

I have never seen one do *that* though. Yikes!

I would have believed it. Hummingbirds are just territorial. Republicans, on the other hand, are greedy, veangeful, mean-spirited, hypocritical, lying, cheating, bigoted, basck-stabbing, murderous, war-mongering bastards.

1. I tend to fly around as hyper as they do
2. I eat as much nectar as they do in order to maintain my girlish weight... well, pregnant girlish...
3. I have pretty colors
4. and I have a big... beak... that's disproportional to the rest of me

See? The similarity is perfect!

Mind you, you were calling humans vicious. I am not vicious.

1. I am collaborative, not competitive.
2. Violence is not my way.
3. I wear clothing with pretty colors.
4. and I have a big... well, you get the picture; only a mountain can crush an ego as big as mine... but not the beak. :P

23. mine are fighting outside right now.
well -- they are always fighting.

there are like 4 feeders within close proximity -- one hummingbird -- mojo -- thinks they are all his.

so the other 5 or 6 hummingbirds are always having to fight mojo for drive-by drink.

i'm surprised mojo isn't dead from exhaustion.

btw -- mojo isn't the biggest of the hummingbirds out there fighting -- just the first to always go to war.

26. Some of the most vicious creatures on our planet occupy our government.
I have often noted that Hummingbirds deserve trials at the Hague for their many crimes against birdom - although it is hard to keep the pesky little critters in their cells.

But Hummingbirds seem cute next to the real criminals.

34. We have 3 feeders.
And even with 3 feeders a decent amount away from each other,
the little boogers still have horrible fights.
I saw 2 the other day almost do an Annikan-pod-racing maneuver against a tree.
