THEY'RE MAKING JACKASS *TWO*??!!?!?!?!?!???!
What. The. FUCK?! I mean, dear lord in heaven, the first one was bad enough. I'm hardly a movie snob, but I fail to grasp the appeal of watching some depressingly idiotic guy getting his balls imploded by a rampaging bull. I guess I should have expected this: there is absolutely. No. Fucking. Way. That stupidity will ever be cured. Primarily on the part of the moviemakers, but who *buys* this insufferable pablum?! It seems like fucking everyone. Even otherwise reasonable, fairly intelligent people seem to jump at the chance to give these blockheaded imbeciles their money. Here's a hint: DON'T ENCOURAGE THEM!! If you value even the slightest thing about the society we live in...even if its just the fact that the traffic light on the street corner isn't always broken...DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!!

Actually, scratch that last thought. By all means, encourage them: the more of these mooncalves get their 'nads mashed, the less of their kind of genes make it into the gene pool. :eyes:

Jeebus!

I walked out after five minutes.

I wouldn't really take issue with that...more the sheer stupidity of the other stuff. x(

Though I think Rabrrrrrr would throw in a few more adjectives, fewer curse words and just have a lot more style and panache in general.

Here's Water's talking about it in an interview. In fact, Waters may be the first person that I heard comment on the homoeroticism of Jackass.

Q;You know, speaking of Johnny Knoxville, I know you are a fan of "Jackass: The Movie," and so am I -- I own the DVD. I don't understand why that movie is not a cult classic with gay men. Do you?

Waters:I love, love "Jackass!" Here's the thing: Cool gay men love it; square gay men hate it.

Q:I don't get that -- how can gay men hate "Jackass?"

Waters: Because they're square! They think it's in bad taste and they don't think it's funny. But I'll tell you what: Johnny gave me "Too Hot for Jackass," which is the stuff they wouldn't let him run on TV, and, whoa -- you oughtta see that!

I liked the first one and found it very funny but maybe that's because I like John Waters as well. My favorite scene of all was when Steve-O was sitting in a sushi bar and decided to snort some wasabe. Just the look on his face before he vomited was priceless.

24. Well, of course,
but what the above post is saying is that Jackass should be, for some reason, a cult hit with gay men, which John Waters further divides into a dichotomy between "cool" gay men and "square" gay men. The focus of said split is specifically focused on a particular sexual orientation and so can't be said to automatically apply to everyone.

27. Of course not.
I never said it did.

I know plenty of straight people who like it, but John Waters was saying that "no, Jackass, isn't a hit with all gay men, just some, because not all of them are *cool* enough to 'get it.'"

Point is, not liking Jackass doesn't make someone "square," regardless of sexuality.

29. Actually
John Waters was saying he liked Jackass because it was shocking, obnoxious and ridiculous.

On the subject of similar sensibilities, Waters says that he was always drawn to Knoxville and that he was indeed a fan of Jackass. "He is an anarchist, a real one. I think the show Jackass was anarchy. The best thing you can ever do is make all kids love you and have their parents hate you, which is really a liberating thing. I remember knowing that he was really going to be a giant star when 60 Minutes, one of them, 20/20, did a big exposé of all the kids that had done the stunts and been hurt. And this kid set himself on fire and he was, like, being interviewed in the bed and they said, 'What would you do today if you could meet Johnny Knoxville, what would you say?' And he said, 'I'd ask for his autograph!' (laughs) Which is so great…"

burned. I know he's a genius or whatever, but what world is he in. That's not "great"; what planet is he on anyway?

That aside, it's a great interview. I'm glad Selma Blair is doing his film, that is one kooky chic and I'd like to see her in some roles that exploit that. I loved her in cruel intentions.

40. that was from John Waters.
not Zombie Nixon.

Waters says that square gay men hate jackass, and cool gay men like jackass. I posted the quote, and now it's gotten all twisted. I brought up the gay stuff; Zombie Nixon was just sayin he hated it, and I basically said if they weren't afraid to fuck each other there would be no need for jackass. My bad.
