1. Cats.
I was at the post office and there is a storm drain there that leads into the city's main sewer duct. I saw a cat down there under the grate. He was soaking wet. I tried to get the grate moved so I could help him out of there. Instead of coming to get help getting out, he ducked under the water and swam back into the sewer. I told the police about it and asked them if someone could help me get him out. They told me that there is a colony of cats that LIVE down there. Yuck! Anyhow, they said it would be ok and that they have a place where they can come out of the sewers near there. Said the cat was probably swimming and stopped for a breather. Weird.

6. racoons, opposums and even chipmunks
in fact this year, we seems to have been invaded by more chipmunks than I've ever seen. They are running around everywhere. It seems my whole town has been overrun.

7. snakes, snakes, and more snakes.
Mostly water moccasins, hog noses, coral, and pygmy rattlers. You wouldn't survive 10 minutes crawling through a sewer in Florida.

8. rats, most likely. Our cats spend a lot of time staring down
the culvert drains looking for something to kill.

12. psychotic vampire roosters!
I've never actually seen them, but I know they are there. I hear them every night between 3 and 4 AM... cockadooodledoing ...out in my woods... but in 4 years here, I have never seen a rooster, nor does anyone around me have any. I always wonder if they've found an old still, or maybe a forgotten (ahem) weed patch in the woods. Uh huh, crazy psychotic vampire roosters!

BE WARNED!!

14. This

Once in awhile they slither out and vomit something. Then they crawl back in their hole and congratulate themselves.
