My new favorite band is The Slumber Party, they're from Dee-troit.

What are your new favorite discoveries? Let's hear it.

1. Bare Jr
Not a new band but I've plucked their CD Brainwasher from my dusty shelves and have been digging it all day. Gasoline Listerine, pure power pop bliss, wrapped in a country legacy exterior: "The skeletons hid in my closet have offended me. I am boring and useless my skeletons are fabulously unique"

2. Have you heard of pandora.com?
http://pandora.com/

It's this radio service that tries to turn you onto music similar to what you already like. So far I've picked up CDs of two bands I was turned onto via pandora. One was the Slumber Party and the other was the Flamin' Groovies, there was another one but I forgot to write down their name . Neither band is new, the Flamin' Groovies have been around forever but there are few resources to hear obscure music on regular radio I would have never heard them otherwise.

5. I love pandora
Play with the menu. It's got a bookmark feature so with one click you can remember bands you like. It also lets you type in a friend's email address and see what they've been listening to. I also love my Rio Karma 20 gig MP3 player. A few presses of a button and presto: I'm listening to the only Flamin' Groovies song in my collection: Shake Some Action. Ain't technology grand?
