What's your favorite Elvis movie?
I confess, even though I'm an old hippie, I loved Elvis movies, as corny as they were.

For drama, I would go with King Creole.

Comedy? Have to go with Tickle Me.

3. The one where he's a singing, race-car driver.
No, wait. The one where he's a crooning hot-rodder.

Sorry, I'm wrong. It's definitely the one where he's a musically inclined stock-car enthusiast.

7. For drama
I'd probably go with Flaming Star (though King Creole was great, as was Jailhouse Rock). Some critics have said that Elvis was at his best when playing a darker, brooding, James-Deanish or Brando-ish character (Flaming Star was developed for Brando and James Dean was up for the Danny Fisher role in what became King Creole), and I agree with them -- even in the lighter '60s movies, when he had a falsh of anger he was suddenly convincing even if he just sleepwalked through the rest of the film.

For the best example of how the dude was a natural comedy actor, Follow That Dream. I love that film. :D

And for overall perfect summation of the Elvis Movie genre, Viva Las Vegas. It featured not just his strongest female lead (and Ann Margret was and is just.....ahhhhhhhhhhh :loveya: ), but good production values with imaginative staging and lighting as well as great cinematography...far more so than in the other '60s 'travelogue' movies. Cool soundtrack, too.

Oh, yeah...Elvis - That's The Way It Is and Elvis On Tour for a look at the real man, doing what he did best, on stage in the '70s.

10. I love Viva Las Vegas too
My other choice would be "King Creole".

And this isn't a movie per se, but I think the Elvis Comeback Special which was basically a television special of Elvis singing before a small select audience is one of the best things he ever did.
