Good Friday morning, Crew!

Welcome to that last day before the weekend! :woohoo:

It is freezing down here, cold winter rains! The best weather, but infortunately very very cold. (For us anyhow, one part it must have got down to about 40 F !)

But I am full of hot food now and inside all warm. B-)

How is everyone? :loveya: My day was pretty good, math was booooring, chemistry lecture was boooooring, but then psychology was good, and then a 3 hr Chemistry prac - which included getting shown the Brilliant And Shiny Machine :wow: (Ok, for you technical types the machine to find H and 13C Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in a sample) but it was damn impressive! And amazing! And the rest was good too, isolating organic compounds FYI. :headbang:

The rest of my day was ok. The weather has been nice and I didn't get up to much else. :)

How about everyones plans for the weekend? Anything special coming up?

Time to rise and shine, crew! :bounce:

The song of the day is "Hall of The Mountain King" by Grieg. :) AirmensMom has a bit of a story about that one, so I just had to include it. O8)

I'm sure it'll take up more of his time but he believes in giving back as much as he can to the people who need his help. He can make a difference in a big way as he does in smaller everyday now.

28. LOL!
I have to think about that ... you see, we don't have a pool anymore, and I really don't have much of a garden either. But in AirmensMom'sLand, it's currently 72 and clear. It's supposed to make it to 89 today, which is cooler than it has been. Perhaps I can go out and pull some weeds out of the "garden" (a bed with bushes that's FULL of weeds) today after I finish my other chores.

I never think about it being winter where you are. :silly: Here ... I'll send you some warmth from TN. :D

Our neighbor brought over fresh corn and tomatoes from his garden, so those will definitely be on our menu tomorrow. I'm debating if I want to serve his burgers, too. They are delish! Then I'd only have to buy some buns and we'd be good to go. :bounce: You're welcome to join us if you're free.

40. Sounds great! But you can keep your warmth. I get a few cold days per
year, so there is NO need for me to get any more!

Corn, tomatoes, burgers, buns.... what else could you want?`

(Your nation in competent hands, I suppose, but that is for tomorrow)

Well, we COULD see if we could scare up some dessert. Perhaps peach cobbler? Nah ... I'd have to heat up the oven.

Yeah, our nation is in competent hands ... competent at fucking things up. That's what you meant, right?

55. No, competent hands, just replace "hands" with
"job" and "competent" with "complete fuckers who are ruining your country, and the last guy was no saint but f*ck me all he did to get impeached was get a blow"

:)

Anyway, for the serious matter of desert, what about a mango and toasted coconut semifreddo? That would be cold, at least! (You will need to cover & freeze it solidly if you want it in that heat, though)

But it is very sweet!

For something harder & cleaner, perhaps a sorbet?

(I did hospitality back in the day)

65. None of 'em are saints.
But we're seriously hung up about sex in this country. It's the WORST of all sins ... worse than lying, killing, starting wars, etc. Yep, we can impeach for a blow job, but nothing else.

Great dessert ideas! I like the sorbet one the best -- quick and easy (buy it from the store). I have no idea what a mango and toasted coconut semifreddo is, but it sounds wonderful! :9

75. I see! Allow me to elucidate:
Of the dairy based desserts, semifreddo is the softest solid, it is made from mostly a beaten mixture off egg white and sugar, and a beaten mixture of cream and some milk.

Very dense, very soft, very sweet. A cross between ice cream and marshmallow, but it does not taste sugary.

:)

And yes, I have noticed that American sex pre-occupation. Honestly, it is not as weird as even the average opinion on atheism. When people from other countries find out some of the things even the dems think, the reaction is :wtf:.

(Immoral atheists for the repukes, atheism because religious people hurt them for the left, and atheists are sad for the both of them)

Yeah, I know, not all, but it crops up pretty often even here. (At least in R/T)

Anyway, back to dessert: Bought sorbet? Take care, they will try to sneak lots of sugar in!

:9 I really don't have enough stuff unpacked to be able to do much "cooking". I suppose I COULD find the ice cream freezer in one of the many boxes that are in the basement. But it would be easier to buy sorbet, sugar and all.

I stay out if R/T these days ... it's not what I thought it was. :wow:

what is going on here? :scared:

Wait a second, who cares?

Your thingy tomorrow!
Sorbet sounds lovely, don't worry about the sugar, but be sure to freeze it pretty well!

A great tip is to put the bowls you'll be serving in themselves in the fridge. (Or freezer for a SHORT time before serving) as things transfer heat a lot better by direct contact, so a warm bowl melts the sorbet quick.

Not in the freezer overnight! They need to be comfortable to touch!

:)

Me and my tips. :)

111. Its the little things that can really add an edge, so here is another tip:
1) Don't perform nuclear tests in the pacific, leading to an improbable reptilian behemoth "Godzilla" crushing the nieghborhood. It makes the plates shake when a 40,000 tonne monster is screaming, and you also can't hear the music.

And be sure to keep the meat cool until cooking, and you may want to serve the corn cold, precooked. But you might not have the time. :) Meh, who cares.

116. Actually, I was going to put the corn on the BBQ.
Shuck it, butter it, sprinkle chili powder on it, put the husks back on (without the silk), wrap in foil, and put on the grill. Comes out way yummy! :9

Now I'm hungry ... guess I'll need to get some breakfast soon.

Thanks for the tip about performing nuclear tests in the pacific. I was thinking about doing such a thing maybe next week. :P

I hear ya about the cooking thing. Thanks for reminding me. I should stop at the store on my way home to pick something up, maybe something to put on the grill. That does sound good right now.

I'm only working half a day today, so I'm in a really good mood, but I have to work tomorrow, but tomorrow will be fun. Spending the night up north, and I'm thinking about either taking my bike along or do some hiking.

Only half a day today? Now that is a Friday to my liking. In my old position I only had to work till 3pm. Now it is 4pm. Unless I talk to my boss if I can leave early and if I have enough overtime.

I think I decided what I will cook tonight. Thank goodness for internet cook books. I decided for a apple casserole. Sounds yummy enough.

Hiking or biking this weekend? Sounds like a fantastic idea!!!

31. When did classes begin in your country?

Our students still have another month off.

I always drive safely, a successful trip is an uneventful one. I will say the rain has me a bit concerned. I've been thinking about driving my little convertible to save gas but my truck is so much more comfortable.

some days my English is better, some days not.

You know what is funny, I can switch between English and German without a problem, I could use both languages in one sentence. I understand everything that is said in English (and of course in German - otherwise I would have quite problem). BUT I can't translate for shit. If I would have to translate what I write you right now into German I would be a stuttering wreck.

87. Well
I do write here in English. At the same time I have to correct my catalog entries in German and also speak German here. Sometimes I think faster of the English word than the German. Tricky. I enjoy reading books in English, I watch my DVD's in English. I know when I come back from the States the TV German will sound horrible to me.
So both English and German are in my daily life.

Thanks for finding x for us. It was a little small, after all.

132. Good morning.

I had to work another ten-hour shift today. Now I have to work a twelve-hour shift tonight. Oh well. It's all overtime pay. :D

I wish I could be doing chemistry work right now. But I have to wait another couple of years when I go back to college (I have to earn enough money first), but I digress.

:(

Other than that, I have Saturday night off and I'm just going to stay home and read a book or two. I don't feel like going out. I have to work Sunday night again, so I'm not going to have much of a weekend. :(

137. Good morning Fox!
Not much of a weekend! Sorry to hear that, man!

Overtime pay sounds good to me! At this rate it will be college in no time!
