http://www.wouldyoubelieve.com/faq.htmlWhen will Get Smart come out on DVD?
Soon!!! Anonymous sources confirmed in May 2006 that Time-Life, in cooperation with HBO, will be releasing Get Smart on DVD sometime in the Fall of 2006 in North America and Australia. The exact release date has NOT been determined yet.
July 2006 Update: Top secret anonymous sources have confirmed first to this website additional details about the upcoming release of Get Smart on DVD:
*
Season 1 will feature insightful commentaries from Barbara Feldon, Buck Henry AND Mel Brooks. Mel and Buck talk about the pilot, “Mr Big,” while Barbara takes on the classic episode “Kisses for KAOS.” *
Also included as a Season 1 bonus feature will be The Bill Dana Show episode that shows Don Adams doing an early version of the Maxwell Smart character as Detective Byron Glick. It also contains one of the earliest “would you believe” joke. *
Plus - a 60-minute excerpt from the legendary Museum of Television & Radio's Get Smart seminar in 2003. You’ll see Don, Barbara, executive producer Leonard Stern, guest star Bernie Kopell, and producer/director Jay Sandrich reminiscing about the show and sharing behind the scenes stories about the development of GS. You'll hear for the first time the whole scoop on how Barbara Feldon almost was replaced as 99 due to an advertising conflict! *
There’ll also be bloopers, NBC promos, a 16-minute featurette, “The Secret History of Get Smart,” and much more! *
All together, Season 1 will feature over 2 hours of bonus material. *
Later seasons will feature segments from an amazing interview with Barbara Feldon, a sample of which can be seen here. (Sample clip is not for use on any other website and is an AVI file of approximately 45MB) *
Carl's Editorial Note: I think the above extra list is incredible, absolutely incredible. It's certainly more than I had ever hoped we'd get, especially when you consider that we're getting the uncut episodes beautifully restored as well. Time-Life is clearly giving this the master's touch and they should be applauded for the quality of this release. They're producing a masterpiece about a masterpiece and I know you're all as excited as I am to see these released in a few months.
