AArghhhhh!!! A/A ripoff, Dallas to Calgary
By flying out of Houston, I can get a Houston-Calgary ticket for 281.00. It stops both ways in Dallas.

But to purchase a direct Dallas-to-Calgary ticket, flying on the same planes, the cost is 423.00.

142.00 dollars more to NOT fly from/to Houston.

I guess I could talk them into letting me on the plane in Dallas, by lying and saying I'd broken down on the way to the airport in Houston (or would they let me?), but I think it would be obvious when I got off at Dallas coming back and didn't reboard for Houston.

Anyone know if the above would work? Would they try to charge me more after the fact? I've heard that they have cracked down on people discarding legs of trips, but I don't know what the repurcussions are?

1. I'm pretty sure if you miss the first leg of a flight,
they cancel the rest. Call AA and ask, I had a similar question once. :D

2. Yeah, same thought here.
I think if you miss the first one, they assume you're not coming. But that's shitty that it's set up the way it is.

4. Yeah, I know that's sop now
I just figured I might be able to talk them into it by calling a little early day of flight and basically lying about missing the flight in Houston. There is plenty of time on the itenerary for a person to drive from Houston.

But the more I think about it, I'm guessing they get that call about once a day, so they're probably on to it, and would therefore be hard asses about it.

5. Thanks!
my schedule is August 23 to fly DFW to Calgary (YYC), and return on the 29th. I could travel +/- a day or so, if I could save substantial money.

The best thing (that is practical) is dfw/yyc for 423.00 with taxes and fees.

I suspect Houston/Calgary is so competative because of Shell, and other big oil companies.
