intense and "alert" look to you. You may be thinking about nothing but a sandwich, but you give off vibes of acute awareness. I loved finding out I'm Irish. I'm actually half German. Several people have commented they thought I look Asian, and it's part of the history of the Chinese coming to Germany for jobs.

45. Probably my upbringing and karate contributed to that.

My dad started teaching me how to fight when I was five (we lived in a bad neighborhood) and I've been doing karate since I was ten. I teach women's self-defense seminars sometimes. Basically, I'm trained in being very alert of my surroundings (or at least appearing to be, I'm ADD extrodinaire half the time).

My heritage is 75% Irish and 25% Swiss.

There's one that I can't think of the name of right now; it involves causing pain to your attacker by remaining somehow passive. I read about it in a novel called "The Bone People". The heroine, Kerewin, is attacked by a man and dodges him, but also fells him at the same time. I don't think it involved pressure points or anything, just immobility and faith and strength.

50. That would be aikido.

Aikido is pretty cool. One of the black belts in my dojo also studies aikido, so sometimes he'd teach a bit of it to us. Basically, aikido is all about using your opponents own energy against themselves. It's a martial art where oftentimes the smaller person has the advantage due to a lower center of gravity. Basically, the bigger they are the more energy they have to use against themselves. Personally, I always preferred sparring against bigger opponents (pretty much everyone...I'm 5'1" 105lbs) because I'm strong for my size, usually faster, and I can get inside their striking range, so I still have room to attack easily, but unless they're a good in-fighter (most aren't) I'm too close for them to effectively attack.

Isshinryu karate is the main martial art I study and the only one I'm ranked in. I know a bit of aikido, some eschrima (Filipino stick & knife fighting) and some judo (throws). I really want to get into Kyukushin Karate. Mostly because I have issues with my karate instructor and it's a full-contact competitive style. I want to get back into some serious sparring before I'm too old (30).

My mom started karate at 45 and she's going for her black belt next year. Full-contact competition is a different thing. You start to slow down after 30, so basically I'm in my peak years for that right now.
