24. The worst was during the primary season of '04.

People were really vicious back then, calling anyone who disagreed with their candidate Republican (or actually Repukelikkkan) lite or "DINO" and dropping the F-bomb like it was gonna expire the next day. I totally pitied the admins and mods during that little festival... the first fully on-line primary season in history. Hopefully this next dance around the barn we'll behave better.

a true flamewar is not just about one thread. Noooo. It spills into other threads. It takes over all of GD and spreads into the lounge and GDP. It develops code words. Tombstones pop up like mushrooms as mods get tired of locking.

recemt examples - Tookie, Rove/Leopold, Pope Benedict, Immigration, and current Israel/Lebanon.
