1. Well, I respect what Desilu did in terms of TV production innovation

and I liked her B-movie career, before she was a redhead. But her shows never made me laugh. And how could I forget! If there were no Desilu, there would have been neither Star Trek nor Mission:Impossible. And if there were no Star Trek, I would have no reason to live. So thank you Miss Lucy.

3. I admire her success at a time when women were not considered

executive material. But I didn't like her character on TV at all. Even as a kid it grated on me (of course, I started a near-riot in kindergarten when I refused to sit in a pink chair so I may have a bit of a chip on my shoulder). It always made me cringe, and I think it's a bummer that she had to play a dumb, ditzy, dizzy woman to become a successful businesswoman.

Lucy got all the credit but I think Desi had most of the talent.

I have some of the shows on tape including her whole Hollywood trip. The real genius behind the shows success though was Desi. Without his vision I don't think the show would have been as successful.

8. I must tell you a little story about "I Love Lucy."

When my son, who is now 18, was just a toddler, he was fascinated by the show. He didn't pay much attention to other programs, but Lucy fascinated him. By the time he was seven, he had seen, and memorized every episode, had Lucy posters in his room, and knew the most minute of trivia concerning Lucille Ball and "I Love Lucy."

for the first 40 or so years. Then frankly I got sick & tired of her & her crazy antics!

When the show was originally proposed the network wanted her character's husband to be played by the radio actor that played the part in the radio show that the series was based on. Lucy insisted that Arnaz be cast in the role. They didn't want him because they thought his accent and ethnic background would not go over well with the audience. It was due to her insistence that Arnaz was cast as Ricky. He was always overshadowed by her but its because she was such a big star on her own. Plus he was limited as far as what roles he could play because of his own background. He also had a bit of a drinking problem which didn't help him. As a producer though, he was very ingenious and successful. It was he who first used motion picture film to record the TV series. And to also move from using one, fixed camera to using several cameras that moved with the action. Notice the difference in quality to that show vs. "The Honeymooners." Hollywood, not Lucy did not ever give him the credit he deserved for his techniques which were very innovative at the time. Every episode of "I Love Lucy" was also recorded. Where only a fraction of "The Honeymooners" exists all of the "I Love Lucy" episodes still live on because they were all taped and using high quality film to record them which has allowed the quality to still remain.

I don't disrespect her, given her business accomplishments as a woman in the 50's. But, i never thought she was the least bit funny. A one trick pony, and her physical humor was poor.
