ESPN Radio just now--Nomar IS going to Chicago, the big trade has begun
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 11:18 AM by Zech Marquis
NO links yet, I was just listening to the Tony Kornheisher show--Tony just read a newsflash from Newsday. I'll find a link and update the latest info for you all :bounce:

5. thanks man!
i was about to use the same article link.

I understand Arod, the Red Sox and Player Union (or whoever) is scheduled to meet again in NY. I suspect once news of Nomar being sent to Chicago was released, it's merely a fomral handshake and done deal.

3. I almost got excited, then read that it's the White Sox.
Too bad.

Love to see Nomar in a Cubbies uniform.

What a lineup that would have been.

Patterson CF
Garciaparra SS
Sosa RF
Pudge C (I'm still hoping)
Alou LF
Lee/Simon IB
Ramirez 3B
Grudzelanek 2B

Starting Rotation

Wood - Prior - Zambrano - Clement - (and can you say, Maddux?)

Wow!!!

6. Wouldn't be THAT great a lineup...
Way too right-handed. Nobody'd ever throw a lefty against the Cubbies (not that they had any real threat from the left side last year either, and Florida managed to pull it off, but still).

15. I Think Pudge Is Still Probable
That guy that signed yesterday is not going to be the #1 catcher. That's not how it appears Hendry thinks. Not aggressive enough, compared to his last several moves.

So, fingers crossed on that one.

The Maddux thing, might still happen too. It depends on whether Mr. Greg is realistic about how much money he wants.

11. With Nomar coming to Chicago
at least the pronunciation of his name won't change much. Nomar in Chicago-ese (or Chicagaese, if you prefer) would be very similar to "Nomahhhhhh." As a life-long White Sox fan, I am sad to see Ordonez leave. He is a class act and a great ball-player. Boston is lucky to get him. It's like trading night for day when you can get Ordonez for that slacker Ramirez. I am, however, excited to get one of the best short-stops in baseball to my beloved team. Looks like a great trade for all concerned.

12. Yeah, but look for Nomar to be dealt by the White Sox...
...probably to the Dodgers. That's what I've read anyway.

13. I read that too
Reinsdorf would be run out of town on a rail if he traded Nomar for mediocre pitching and some prospects.

8. In REAL baseball news...Cardinals add Suppan and Sanders
That's Jeff Suppan and Reggie Sanders.

Also they're free of JD Drew - have fun with him Bravos.

9. Tis true. The only "real" baseball news........
...focuses on the National League. Exclusively.

On that, we can agree. :hi:

Not sure if it's a deal breaker or not.

17. The players' union is against the restructuring of A-Rod's contract.
If this deal isn't done by tomorrow, it won't get done.
