2. Disco Demolition Night!

True story:

A band I was in during college played a frat gig which was a "Demolition Party." Essentially, large portions of the basement (where we were playing) were scheduled for redoing, and the boys were more than happy to wrap a party around the demolition phase of the project.

For most of the night, it was under control (more or less). The inevitable, beer-fueled demo was contained (mostly) to walls and areas away from the band.

Until the very end of the night.

Once the party was winding down, the demo started in earnest. We watched in horror as the ceiling started being ripped down, starting at the far end of the basement, but heading toward the stage rapidly. Grabbing mic stands (all four of us!), we stopped the ceiling demo right at the edge of the stage. There was a bit of debris on a PA cabinet, but all stage gear was unscathed.

We loaded out ASAFP and got the Hell out of there!

8. Bad judgement

Folks shoulda thrown clocks and watches at Hargrove, whose nickname was "The Human Rain Delay." Dude went through this ritual before every pitch when he was batting — adjust his helmet, wipe his hands on his shirt, wipe his mouth in the crook of his arm, etc. On every single pitch.
