I think more straight women and gay men should hook up. Here's why:
1. Our common interests: We're good with color.
2. Our common interests: We're good with decorating.
3. Our common personas: We're just nice.
4. In high school sex ed, we were all told "For every person you sleep with, you're essentially sleeping with the last 10 partners that person had." This is great because it means that both of you have essentially slept with 10 men. Though for the gay guy, it's by proxy - but so what?
5. Both of you can look at men and make a really cool game of it. "Oh, he's cuter!" "I want him!" "No, I do!!!" and so on.

Sorry, couldn't resist the silliness. Just thinking of Liz Taylor's long list of hubbies... I'll find something that's typically HypnoWeird to say in a moment...

1. Nononononono! No no no. NO.
The last thing I need is a horde of fashion-conscious, sensitive men competing with me. x(

2. Would you like to date my ex-wife?
I always thought she'd be happiest with a gay man. Someone to talk with and shop with, without any of that "icky" stuff that goes along with a hetero marriage.

Really, she's totally free (unless her "mini date" went well tonight).

3. I'd be miserable
I'm quite sensitive about the fact that most hetero guys are better at stereotypical girl stuff than me. I on the other hand, am great at manual labor, whacking potentially menacing spiders with sneakers, interpreting strange engine noise, fixing bikes and stuff like that. I'd make a great butch lesbian if not for my fondness for men. Just don't ask me what color to paint your room or the best cut of pants to flatter your butt, I'm useless at that type of thing.

I'm good at mechanical and technical stuff. But decorating and shopping and fashion - and cooking - tedious & boring for me.

I can nitpick at a computer problem or tinker with something mechanical for hours but not other stuff. I have no patience for cooking, fussing with my hair and nails and stuff like that.

And spiders - I used to have a big hairy one for a pet! I just don't think stereotypes are all they're rumored to be, ya know?

On the other hand, I love a good glass of wine and some romance but well - ain't nobody out there who understands a middle-aged tomboy woman - or even wants one.

4. our gay friend's mom likes hanging out in gay bars immensley...
cause most of the guys are luscious looking & they'll let her 'touch', they all treat her like a lady, and she doesn't have to worry about going home with them :-)

5. .
:wow:

Of course they'll let her 'touch'. I've been to such bars. Of course, I haven't touched. I've looked - who wouldn't, if only to ascertain if all that stuff is "well-placed padding" or not, but I'd rather not feel what I can't have.

8. Back when I lived out-of-state,

...I was single, and my hot, smart and funny friend Darren's bf was gone a lot on business. So when Darren got bored or lonely, we'd head out to one of the trendy places and oogle the men there. Occasionally we'd get into "arguments" over whose team a certain guy was on. Darren was a riot.

And yes, he owned his own art shop and was fabulous at interior design, as well as being a sweetheart.

=sigh= Good times, good times.

9. By that logic, I should hook-up w/ a color-blind hooker?
1. As a straight man, I WANT someone to say, occasionally, "that tie sucks" (colors) or

2. "no, we should paint the living room a nice taupe." (decorating) Perhaps even tell me that my poster for "Bordello of Blood," although is totally classy, is not quite living room material.

3. I'm nice. Unless you're sitting in my chair. That's my personal space, and I expect you to respect that.

4. I don't remember high school. Most of the time during "health" class, I was staring at this one girl who developed early and enormously. Not only did she have an enormous rack, she was sweet as a kitten. I wonder what happened to her. She was perfect, and I still wonder if she knew it. Either that, or I was stoned.

5. Okay, I'm incapable of playing the "who's cuter" game. Hell, I can't even figure out who's gay or not, much less which one looks better.

10. Gay guys are great!
:toast:

When I was single, I always wished hetero men could be more like gay men, except in one key area ...

12. Uh, I'm terrible with decorating.
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 12:53 AM by Withywindle
A nicely balanced pile of books and CDs is "decor" to me, as long as the spines are showing. Anything else I barely even notice.

(female, BTW)

All of those, especially the shared enjoyment of ogling hot men, are great reasons why straight/bi women and gay men should be FRIENDS. As we often are, and it's wonderful.

But when it comes to hookups well, the "wanting to have sex with me" thing is kind of important. :D

13. Ok so what about bi men?

  • I'm good with mechanical stuff
  • I've got good fashion sense in terms of women's clothes
  • I've got absolutely no fashion sense in terms of my own clothes
  • I know my way around fabric
  • I'm basically colour blind except for those colours that give me panic attacks

15. Been there. Done that. Except:
..they were always very in the closet; therefore felt the need to lie to me; lead me on; and let their "friends" treat me like dirt. I was stupid enough to not know what the hell was going on.

I in NO WAY mean this badly; but I tell you what in all seriousness: I really need to meet some gay men that are comfortable with themselves. If anyone recalls about two weeks ago when I posted about having invited someone into my house that I then realized was completely crazy; and who scared the complete and utter shit out of me; it was because he was a deeply closeted gay man who had obviously accepted our invitation OVER a $1000/wk job offer soley because he thought he could have my husband. (THis is not boasting; if you want to know why this would be true; PM me). This is just the latest in a string of incidents like this; although not as bad (and not with this signifigant other; thank goodness!).I seem to have a knack for attracting the closeted ones; except the hubby--and that's a totally different story.
Sigh.
Sorry to bring down your silly thread!!
Carry on........
