Project Runway fans! Who's getting kicked off?
I think it's Keith.

1. I think it's Angela
She said she "doesn't sketch" in the pageant ep, and yet she turned in a portfolio, no? Whose work was that, or was it all photos?

5. I hope you're right
Keith has been a putz, but Katherine is too calculating.

2. I disagree
There's been a lot of conjecture about Keith, but I think that's a red herring.

4. Oh wait, didn't he say he'd never sewn a dress before?
And didn't he show shots of dresses he had "made" at the open call?

6. IIRC, the only clothes he brought were men's clothes
He had sketches of women's clothes.

9. It's true all he brought was menswear
But I can't remember if the portfolio was photos or sketches.

13. Sketches. But that news has been on the net. It would be a drag if that's
why, that the sketches weren't done by him, or that he traced. Anti-climatic for those of us who already saw that news.

I'm wondering if it's something someone did DURING the competition. One person at Television Without Pity speculated that a designer brought design books with him or her to copy from. That would fit with Keith's lack of experience with women's clothing, that he's been copying clothes in a book or something.

It's not Kayne or Robert. They were discussing the event as if they were not the ones going. And I hope it's not Micheal. He's reminding me of Daniel V. Solid early work that no one is paying attention to.

7. There's been gossip on the net that he showed a portfolio that wasn't his
That would be uncool. And that fits what you're talking about.

11. I read about that
His version is that the sketches in question were only a few sketches out of a large portfolio, and were part of a research assignment reporting on trends. I forget who the assignment was for.

12. I'm voting for Keith
my favorites, right now - I'm pretty fickle -- are Robert and Allison. Also like Laura. I think Allison should have won the last challenge. And Robert was a very close tie with Keith the first week.
It's been very good so far. Lots of interesting, and talented, people.

14. Indeed. I even liked Malan toward the end. His exit was sad.
I wouldn't mind if it were Vincent, Angela or Keith. Vincent's nuts. Angela is a schemer. And Keith is an ass.

I'm hoping that Jeffrey sticks around. He's at the least interesting in a Santino sort of way. Angela's style could have been interesting too if she wasn't so one note.

The only thing I didn't like about Laura is two outfits so far have had fur trim. Hopefully she will get off that track. Oh, and Michael has been solid so far. Otherwise I like the ones you do.

33. Share your sentiments
I liked Malan. I think he was treated too harshly. And Jeffrey is growing on me -- some of his comments during the "pageant" show endeared me to him. And he's a better designer than the first show indicated.
Michael, from Atlanta (where I live), has been solid, as you say, and largely ignored.
I've liked Laura's designs, also. Though I'm also opposed to fur.
Angela redeemed herself last night - surprised me. She seemed like a lightweight.
I'm not sure how Vincent has been able to hang in there - I guess for the silly/crazy factor. His pageant gown was hideous, I thought. I would have bounced him instead of Malan.
Allison is very, very good. I hope she makes it to the end. I would have chosen her design last week over Uli.

40. The judges said his dress was badly designed
and that the rouching was too much (is that how you spell it?). The models boobs looked uneven. They used a fabric that Tim said looked like the dress was carved out of wood. In his podcast, Tim said it was like the fabric sucked light out of the room. And to finish it off, the hem was cut too short.

At least with Vincent's dress, some judges thought it had a nice classic line, even if the spaceman shoulders were ridiculous.

But Malan's goodbye interview was so heartbreaking. He talked about how he had been so happy to be a part of something, how he hated to say goodbye to people because he's done it all his life, and how ashamed he was to have been booted. He was tearing up. I ended up liking him more than I thought I would.

15. Ooh, they're mixing up the models. I like it.
I'm glad they're not having to keep the one they had. Makes things interesting. And avoids the Zulema/Nick situation of last year.

17. can someone explain one thing to me?
Angela. Ok, she can be annoying but she got a lot of crap for not being a "team player" on the Miss America challenge but her melodramatic partner was a complete ass who wouldn't let her contribute much to the project. He was far more annoying and childish than she was but it seems like she got blamed for everything.

18. He was an ass. But she was a lump. And I guess there might be some footage
Showing her doing exactly what Vincent said she did, which was work on the dress that he had to take off and repair.

And Vincent had the advantage of the judges liking his dress somewhat. They thought the dress was classic, except for the shoulders.

I wonder if someone on Television Without Pity had insider knowledge as that person guessed it was pattern books and that it was Keith.

Well, Keith did act as if the rules were not for him. He even didn't seem to understand why he didn't win the dog challenge even though he only did half of it.

26. Spoiler
I don't think he had the personality for high-pressured competition. He is a perfectionist and I think he talked himself out of things that made him uncomfortable. He got lucky the first time in explaining why he only used a bedsheet, but that argument started to stale. It came across like he was avoiding things which he feared he was not good at.

I was thinking "asshole." I didn't like his rules-don't-apply-to-me attitude.
Good riddance to him.

unrelated comment: Laura and Michael ought to go into business together.

28. Yes, perfectionist.
I think that's what drives him. He's good and he knows it, but doing it week in and week out was too much for him, ergo, the bitchy attitude. It's also why he refused to go out on a limb and take risks. He didn't want to take a chance that something wasn't going to come out ... perfect.

29. eh. to me, that sounds too much like what people say in job interviews
when they are asked for their biggest weakness. "I'm a perfectionist" (when really, the true answer would be "I'm a thinks-the-rules-don't-apply-to-me asshole").

If I were going to try to explain his behavior (rather than defaulting to the asshole explanation, which I favor), I'd postulate that he was insecure and compensating too hard for it, rather than "good and he knows it."

However, the boy does make a mean pleat (with a pattern book, that is).

and all the credit goes to Angela even though she was saved by Laura and Michael. I mean, the clean designs are a Laura tradmark whereas Michael brings a hipness to the style. Angela's only contribution was those damn flowers she makes all the time
