What are your energy saving tips?
I'm reading a lot of posts on how high electric bills are during these hot months. Pass on any tips you have to cut electric bills.

Change as many light bulbs as you can to the "energy saving" bulbs.

Turn your air conditioner down a little and put fans in various parts of the house to circulate the air.

Use an energy saving screen saver that will turn your monitor off in 20 minutes after last use.

Turn your computer off before you go to bed.

Turn off lights in rooms you are not using.

Turn off the dry cycle on your dishwasher and let the dishes air dry.

3. Hang laundry out on the line if you can.
I only use my dryer for towels ... 'cause I don't like stiff towels.

Turn down the A/C and stay in the basement as much as possible.

4. clean filters
Make sure to change filters on Central air units and to clean filters on window units regularly. It's amazing what can accumulate quickly and block air flow..making the units work harder.

Also make sure to clean the fridge coils..either under the fridge or behind. Mine is supposed to be one of the never clean types but with having a pet I still find fur accumulated on it.

Close drapes or pull shades on windows facing the sun.

Line dry laundry.
