Worried about Morrissey (our kitty) - please help!
Mr. DTBK and I are upstairs, and about 45 minutes ago we heard some weird noise from downstairs. I really don't know what it was. I went downstairs and found Morrissey sitting at the foot of the stairs, and lots of little blood flecks were on the carpet and wall. I found more near the back door. He's acting perfectly normal and is dashing crazily around the house as usual. I saw him licking himself and examined his anal region, finding only a bit of anal sac fluid expressed (YUCK). No signs of blood on his anus or in his urinary regions, and nothing in the litter box. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? My late Fergie had FUS, so I know the signs to look for with that, and Morrissey has none of those signs. It's very weird. Suggestions are welcome!

1. Call your local animal hospital
If it's nothing to worry about, you'll have peace of mind then

2. Are you sure he didn't kill a mouse or something?
I would definitely take him to the vet first thing in the morning.

3. My Frankie had an anal sac infection that exploded
YUCK! They cleaned out the wound, put him on antibiotics and had him wear a lampshade for awhile.

4. Get him to a vet.....
...also, post this in the Pets Group, where others know more about this than I do. Hope everything works out O.K. Let us know.

6. My cat got an absess under a hair mat once
I didn't discover it until it was pretty bad, and the way I found it was by noticing little blood specks in places she had been sleeping. When I took her to the vet, we thought she was bleeding from a urinary infection or something, until we shaved the mat off and found the absess.

Just something to check. The blood might be sporadic, so you wouldn't find any in the box, and it could still be anal or urinary.

Oh, and check his teeth and gums.

And like someone else said, might want to look for signs of a dead mouse or even large bug.

If he's acting normal, I'd just look for outward signs of injury for now, and take him in for inspection in the morning, or even wait to see if the blood appears again.

7. Geez, I have no idea... but now I'm worried for him, too.

Good luck, and please let us know what you find out.
