God damn it, someone say something positive about something!
Most overrated songs, most overrated movies, every damn thread is a way to attack someone or something someone else likes. It's like dealing with all those geeks in high school who felt cool by trashing something just because someone else liked it.

Say something positive. Name a popular artist you like. Piss off the nay-sayers! No criticisms! Surely Democrats aren't ALL whiners, are we? Prove you're a Democrat by biting your tongue instead of criticising someone else's choice! Name something you like that will horrify people! We are the big tent! We love everybody! We respect everyone's right to their opinions, and damnit, at one point the Dem Party stood for good manners, if nothing else. I'm in the mood to not feel bad about things.

Tom Cruise is a fine actor! Rachel Ray's accent is sexy! Titanic was brilliant! Horrify us!

3. We've got some damned fine Democrats running for office this year.
All in all, I'm prouder of this bunch than I've been of our candidates in a while, even though we had bigger names in the recent past.

Naturally, I'm not happy about ALL of them, but since we're being positive, I'll save that for another thread.

And yes, we as a group have been lacking in manners around here. As the party that prides itself on inclusion and valuing others and their opinions, it's been wickedly snarky lately. Just love the backhanded comments.

One town's very like another
When your head's down over your pieces, brother
(It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity)
(To be looking at the board, not looking at the city)
What d'ya mean
You seen one crowded, polluted, stinking town
(Tea, girls, warm and sweet, sweet)
(Some are set up in the Somerset Maugham suite)
Get Thai'd! You're talking to a tourist
Whose every move's among the purest
I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine

Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 11:15 PM by jobycom
I went Coast Episcopal for a couple of years in high school, and was in a production of Mid Summer Night's Dream. We put on a showing at a retirement home, and stopped at, I think, that BK on the way back, in costume. Got as many odd looks as that boat going through the drive through would have gotten.

Here's where I survived Camille, though the house and Gulf station there then were torn down a year later to make way for another station. As you can see, that local fared better under Camille than Katrina. (90 and Nicholson).

ANd here was the house I survived Betsy in, though I was a couple months old. My father had the house built. It flooded in Betsy and Camille. This is what Katrina did. It's on 603.

My competitive spirit wants to be the only thing anyone ever worships or thinks fondly of. It's something I fight... but don't always defeat.

I love women. All different types of women appeal to me, but none more than the women of DU. I'm sure most women on DU are now horrified, but just remember, I'm the harmless type who merely wants to follow you around and fetch things for you. I'll spend the rest of the time on my knees begging you not to wretch too much because something like me likes you, that is, if you'll let me beg you and fetch things for you.

something that I like that would horrify or even be contrary to what most people here would consider within the range of normal.

:(

On edit: How's this. I like my steaks rare, char on the outside but there'd better be cool red meat in the center. mmmmm (just steaks and roasts not ground meat)
