I lied to my mom about something tonight
It's 105, and I still went trail running tonight... I hate the treadmill. I know how to run in heat like this, was running in a thickly wooded area, and was tres careful.

However, when my mom the nurse asked me a little while ago on the phone, "You didn't go running OUTSIDE, did you?!" I was all like, "Uh no... I'm not THAT crazy. I went to the gym."

I'm 41 and lied to my mom because I didn't want to get yelled at.

Pathetic!!!!!

2. I was hydrated, electrolyted, wooded, slower than usual, AND
had ice in a bandanna around my neck (which melted after about a mile). The humidity was relatively low, so I was okay.

Is the humidity a bit better up there? Heat index here was 106. Brutal. I don't think the A/C shut off all day.

6. It was about the same temp, but the humidity was about 55%
I can handle the heat way better than the humidity -- I grew up where it wasn't humid.

I came home and laid down on the kitchen tile... it felt so gooood. The cats ran all over me.

8. The humidity is brutal.
This morning, when I went upstairs to my office, the windows had condensation on them. It is just so humid here. I went to play Bunko at a friend's last night and came home and got sick because she had the A/C set at 78 with a house full of women and her new addition doesn't have A/C. I hate that. I hate being hot. I always feel like one can get warm, but can't cool off sometimes.

9. Ugh... it was like that here yesterday
I know -- you can always bundle up. I love running in the winter because of that reason.

I hate the humidity even more than the heat -- it's hard for me to breathe.

11. Do what you feel but you should know..you can take all those precautions
and still end up keeling over. It happens to the best of conditioned athletes.

GIGGLE

Trust me, I was literally running 3.5 mph, and sprinkling lots of walking in there.

17. Today my 19 year old son, very healthy, a runner, bent down in a shop
to hand me a rug in an air conditioned store and nearly passed out. Came out of nowhere. He had eaten and had beverages to drink in the morning. I think it happened b/c he has a job where he works outside and had done that the previous two evenings. Meaning, his body just had not recuperated sufficiently from the stress he had encountered with 106+ heat index.

Easy does it.

15. My SO is away at an interview and just called
When I told her I went running she said, and I quote, "Jeebus. Next you'll be putting a sauna in the house so you can train for Badwater. You didn't tell your mother, did you???"

See??? Even she knows I shouldn't tell my mom!!!

22. You're going to have us all sitting here worrying about you.
Out in this heat, collaped on a trail somewhere. You'll be half baked before anyone finds you.

How could you do this to us?

(kidding. I hope you at least run with a partner.)
