1. I thought it had something to do with the terriers
my mom has a yorkie. They are cute little dogs, but have that annoying high pitch bark.

8. It's not a dessert pudding.
It is a doughy concoction that one eats with gravy.

12. Liverpool is on the west coast, Yorkshire's on the East.
Indeed it is within the traditional boundaries of Lancashire, which is our arch-enemy as a county. :grr: ;)

22. Manchester is within Lancashire's old borders
Although these days it has it's own county of Greater Manchester. Mancs still thing of themselves as Lancashire though, so I'm afraid they are not in our good books. Anyway, here's some more info on the Wars of the Roses, which is why Lancashire and Yorkshire are rivals to this very day!

24. I know the history about the War of the Roses.
I'm just disappointed that, according to TJ, our ancestors would have been enemies!

That just makes me pout.

25. That's the way history often goes
For instance, I live in a town that was a Parlimentary stronghold during the English Civil War, but I have family out in some of what were the most Royalist areas during that time. Maybe we should all just go the whole hog and start joining reenactment societies?

26. I couldn't care about the past history.
I just don't want TJ to quit posting pics of himself w/ no shirt on wearing a kilt.

(I'm selfish like that.)

Actually, I like history. The first wave of ancestors from the UK were Puritans. (I admit-you all were right to find ways to get rid of them. I'd have dumped them in the middle of the ocean if I had been alive at that time). The second wave were from the Manchester area. Of course, that was much, much later. I'm also Irish and Scottish, along w/ a few other things thrown in just for fun.

At least the second wave wasn't so whiny.

27. So you''d have been on the Royalist side...
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 12:38 PM by Thankfully_in_Britai
...during the English Civil War then? It was the Puritans who were fighting the king as the felt he was being a bit too despotic you see. Plus Royalists were mostly Armenians (which means they belived in free will) and Puritans saw their ideas as being a bit too close to Catholicism.

28. Probably.
But if you met some of my family members you'd realize that...

I need to quit dissing certain family members. Let's just say that the Puritan mentality and morality that was brought to the US is still alive and well in a few of them. Extremely repressed fuckwads.

Some of my family makes me blush w/ their mentality.
