'Watch out — he's got a pen!'
Flight 396, which departed Las Vegas with 129 passengers, landed at Tulsa International Airport after one passenger "threatened another one with a ball point pen," Southwest Airlines spokeswoman Marilee McInnis said.

<snip>

Airport police took Danny Hughey Jr., 33, of North Little Rock, Ark., into custody and he faces a federal charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, the FBI said.

Now the NSA is gonna prohibit pens on all flights. How the hell am I supposed to do my crossword puzzles then?!? Just, like...visualize the letters there?

10. I dunno...
I've got a scar on my right hand, my left arm and my left thigh from pencils.

No scars from pens.

Soon as someone figures that out, pencils will make the list, too.

Plus...what if one breaks and *gasp* you've got a jagged edge?

Or...oh NO...what if a fingernail breaks and leaves a jagged edge?

Someone'd better get a grip...

It was like that scene in Psycho. I still have the pencil "tatoo" on my chest.

30. I used to do x-words in the Sunday SF Examiner
that often had full-sentence solutions, or at least phrases. But those were the only puzzles like that I've worked.

I kind of miss those. They were real bastards.

I saw that recent pic of you and the little guy. Wow, two beautiful people. And I concur with the others that you will have young ladies lined up outside your door forevermore beginning right about the time he turns, say... twelve.

5. Anything can be a weapon, if you use it right.
I once split my sister's lip open with a Tootsie Roll.

It'd be easy to kill someone with a pen.

9. Hell, it's easy to kill someone with your thumb, especially if you got
the jump on them. Their whole thing against normal items is rather unfounded, since people can and will find ways to kill each other unless they're masked and in a straight jacket

18. Exactly.
If some crazy gets on a plane and wants to kill somebody, they'll do it whether or not they have toenail clippers. Obviously, guns & knives are a checked luggage sort of thing, but the list of "weapons" is absurd.

39. George Carlin does a good bit on things prohibited from airplanes.

He makes the point that no matter what the weapon, everyone needs their hands to kill another, so... let only people without hands fly and the problem will be solved.

I love that guy!
