Rillito reported topping its banks
Swift water rescues occur in several areas surrounding the city

StarNet
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 07.31.2006

The Rillito was reported overflowing in several sections just north
of the city following heavy rains early this morning, according to
police radio reports.
River rescue teams were dispatched to several areas surrounding
the city to save drivers and pedestrians caught in heavily flowing washes.
The rescue operations were reported in the Sabino Canyon area,
in the Rillito River at North Dodge Boulevard, on the Tohono O'odham
reservation south of Tucson, at Contractor's Road at Ajo Way and
at Snyder Road at Houghton Road.
According to police radio reports, the Rillito had topped its banks and still rising.
Shortly after 8 a.m., police started evacuating the Rillito riverwalk.
Gawkers also were reported wading in the
water that rose to the level of the riverwalk.

1. My dear Ptah!
Omigod! It's a good thing that you went on your walk when you did, sweetie!

It's a lot scarier out there today........ :scared:

Of course, you do need the rain....

But not all at once.........

Stay safe.......

4. This is more in one day than we are used to.
I haven't had to water my garden for a few days now.
I don't have to cross any washes or bridges to get
to work, so I'll be ok.

Wow! I'm glad we went on that walk yesterday. Listen, it will recede & you know it. It'll go back to doing what it does. She loses her hand on civilization once in a while, that's all. :pals:

5. Yes, it will go back to the usual - no water in the river bed.
It's amazing what a couple of nights rain will do.

:hi:

6. Some Googling and Wiki-ing and I found out what bird that is.

Wiki:
Their breeding habitat is warm swamps and marshes in southeastern states of the United States and the tropical regions of Central America and the Caribbean. This species is resident in southern Florida and the tropics, but most American birds are migratory, wintering south to Argentina.

Sounds a little out of place.
