19. Tsk, tsk...
no can do. She's a friend of Mel Gibson's. And someone said she's gay. :sarcasm:

Actually, in my book, she's a great dame. Even prettier IRL -has a good sense of humor.
Does not suffer fools gladly.

Disclaimer: I worked with both of them on the same movie.

34. She is totally gay
She took her GFs to lots of film events for years (with them cropped out of photos, like Ricky Martin's BFs)... and, her brother officially outed her in his book. She quit talking to him. LIKE IT'S A SECRET, ALICIA!!! GET OVER IT!!!

She makes my gaydar explode.

I've had a crush on her since I saw "Freaky Friday" at the mnovies...

41. I'm thinking....
I'm assuming she must be one of the most private individuals in the Hollywood set-- one never sees much of her in the tabloids- print or electronic. And that alone give her quite a bit more mystique than many other actors.

I saw her on "Inside the Actor's Studio" about a month ago and thought to myself, "Now there's a person I'd LOVE to take out to dinner and just talk with for a few hours". She seemed so incredibly insightful into the human condition and with a quircky sense of humor.

49. You're right about private & funny.
I always admire those who keep a sense of 'balance' and maintain a real life. It takes smarts and the ability to see that being a 'movie star' isn't the be all and end all. The ones, like Jodie, that I've worked with spent more time looking 'outward'and are 'private' without being aloof. They are observant & involved with the world around them. They don't hang out at the 'in' places; don't go to the opening of 'door' - and don't have a burning need to be the center of attention 24/7.

Jody was friendly with everyone on set (while professional in getting the day's work done) - often the funniest one at the lunch table - and pretty much vanished when the day was over -off to her 'real' life. Impressive.

I wish you could have dinner with her too -to see how right you are. (:

Then if I were a woman, I'd so hit on her.

And then I'd go after Ani Difranco, who isn't gay, but who would probably admire me for my taste in women.

that's talent when you can out do Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson. A difficult role with not the best writing in the world and she sold it.

9. Very hard to choose, but I have to say The Accused.
I wonder how many people who voted Silence of the Lambs have also seen The Accused. I don't see how anyone could be so vulnerable in a film. I don't mean the woman she portrayed -- I mean, she herself had to make herself so vulnerable in order to act that role well.

Oh, fuck it, I am too fatigued to explain what I mean. Just see the movie.

PS I also thought she was fabulous as Starling. But as Sarah Tobias - omg.

because she was exactly like girls I had known as a teen/young man. She was flat out perfect.

SOTL is a great movie, but The Accused had a better part IMVHO.

Her best role was in The Accused, even though I enjoyed The Silence of the Lambs more, mostly because I was a fan of Thomas Harris' novels until he wrote that POS Hannibal.

47. "Wave!"
Not a great film, but a spot-on turn by Foster, with one of the all-time great one-liner scene cappers.

Also put in a plug for her nimble comedic turn in "Freaky Friday." Watch it again, as she encounters her husband/father's sexy secretary, and intimidates the woman so completely just with a dead-eyed Clint Eastwood stare, the secretary winds up covering herself with a long coat. (Lindsay Lohan, God bless her, couldn't even begin to live up to Foster's level in the remake.)

Foster was also terrific in "Foxes," which I just saw for the first time recently. Also love her in "Silence" "The Accused" "Contact" "Panic Room" and her icy, ever-smiling performance in this spring's "Inside Man."

Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 10:50 PM by Jamastiene
My opinion may be biased though, because I'm sorta paranoid anyhow and I've always wanted a panic room or other hidden room. I just loved the suspense in that movie and the cool punk rock daughter with the Sid Vicious shirt on. I'd love to have a shirt like that. Okay, my opinion is VERY biased.

Edited to add a second favorite: Foxes, again my opion is biased there too. A Runaway was in it. :P

excellent movie too. Worth watching more than once.

Although the WHY of the movie isn't the best payoff in movie history, it's a very engaging story and a brilliant caper.

I liked that and "Candleshoe" when I was a kid. I also liked it when she was Danny Partridge's girlfriend on tv.

FF is funny to watch now-they would never show a kid smoking a cigarette in a Disney movie these days. It's just fun to watch old kids movies and see how sensitive we've become.
