1. I always confirm that she was born within 38 seconds of me
and I prefer younger by up to 38 seconds than older by up to 38 seconds. Unless she's really hot, then I'll allow a difference of a day or two, but I don't expect any real relationship to happen.

27.  I can not take your poll
my wife dosen't allow me to date. But as an aside she is
4 1/2 years older then me and my first wife was 3 1/2 years younger.
The first marriage lasted 26 months this one 30 years

2. I wouldn't say five years older/younger,
because that would put me in the 14-24 range which is a but much. At this point, I prefer to date women in my year (18-19).

5. Date?
I've never really done that.

But I've in the past typically found myself most attracted to older women, and most I've interacted with in a romantic sense (doncha just love it when I talk all poetic and mushy?) have been around two or three years older than me. Now that I'm the age that Ann Margret was when I was in my younger, wishing-Mrs-Robinson-would-seduce-me years I really don't think I care any more...I've had close calls with young women in their mid-20s (albeit mature compared with their peers) and I'd consider that because, if the person's right, age doesn't mean much once both people are across the line into what might pass for some approximation of 'adulthood.'

But I'm not particularly attracted to younger women, certainly not significantly younger women, and I never was.

"be in a relationship with"
might have been a better question for the poll.

Got married young and widowed young...and any relationships I had
just evolved---no real dates!

I think the "dating" thing must be nerve-racking. Scarey--:scared:

19. My nerves are a bit racked at the thought, too
I can picture it now, my first date with whoever it's with:

"Thanks for taking me out to dinner"

"You're welcome"

(long pause)

(really long pause)

"I washed my laundry today"

"Really?"

"Yes"

"That's funny, because I just washed mine three days ago"

"Wow"

(another long pause)

"Well that's nice, isn't it?"

"What's that?"

"I mean, that we have that in common."

"Yeah. Oh, yes. I like that we can talk so easily about such things."

"Oh, yeah, so do I"

"I do, too"

"It's really nice."

"Well, we have that in common, then."

"Yes, and it's really nice."

(another one of those pauses)

"So, are you going to finish that McFish McSandwich?"

In reality, I'm sure I'll do fine -- shoot, if the talking never gets going then I guess there's your answer for that person's place in your life. But the idea still scares me Roveless... :scared:

8. My ex-wife was 4 years older than me,
My fiancee is 4 years younger.

Age makes no difference to me, except for this: My finacee and I have a common cultural reference point that my ex and I never had. That makes activities as simple as listening to the radio more fun than I can remember having in the past. One song from the '80s can produce a great conversation between us about any number of topics. I believe that this cultural connection is one of the two or three important things I was missing in my first marriage.

Much younger women--
And when a women gets to a certain age, she becomes invisible to men.

If they're right--that's really depressing.....even though I enjoy being single right now.

12. I'm not with my fiancee because she's younger.
And honestly, I have no idea what I'd talk to a much younger woman about.

Honestly, I was attracted to my fiancee before I knew she was younger. Actually, to be honest, I was attracted to her before I even saw her.

In my experience, the older women had a higher level of maturity, than the ones my own age, or younger. The oldest I dated, was 8yrs older..

13. Depends on the woman.
I've dated 10 years my elder, I've dated 10 years my junior. Both have been VERY well represented in my "oh, yeah, she was really f'ing hot" mental checklist. However, I must say, the women that are my junior (younger than I) have been more liberal, which I find sexier than all get out.

I'll hope that women will respond here looking to prove me wrong...

47. Near my age. I went out with someone quite younger last year. It was meh.
Of course "It's not you, it's meh" is a GREAT break up line. But the real problem was the age. She just didn't have as much to say in a conversation as woman my age does. I'm not averse to dating someone less than five years younger than me... and sadly a good looking woman will override any standards I set most of the time, anyway... but the reality is that in order to go out with a 42 year old perpetual bachelor and single full time dad requires a woman with some pretty realistic relationship goals and some on-target relationship skills. Oh, and youngsters just drink too damn much. I can still put 'em back, but I'm at the age where I look for moderation in everything.

Omygod, I'm an old fart. Thanks for the damned epiphany, Karenca.

55. With all due respect your friends are making a sweeping generalization
To say that ALL men have a certain preference or that ALL women have a certain preference or that ALL in a particular group have a certain preference will more frequently result in the person making that generalization being proved wrong. The person or persons making generalization may be speaking from personal experience but nevertheless it quite often is the case that there are people in that group outside of that category that the person in question maty have never met.

But anyway I've hardly ever (with one or two exceptions) being attracted to women much younger than myself (26 years). My general age of attraction tends to be women who are at least 5-10 years older than me
