Newbie here. What kind of messages do moderators send you?

1. Mods usually only send you official messages when you did a bad thing.
Most of the time, it's used for members just to send private messages (like emails) to each other.

6. Sometimes the admins send out broadcast messages to
all DUers, like when there is a fundraising campaign or maybe when journals are introduced---that kind of thing. Mods send messages when you've been a bad DUer. :hi:

7. I think they send you messages if they delete something you
posted or lock your thread, etc. Then you have to acknowledge receipt of said message.

Suggesting you've violated x, y or z rule(s) and not to do it anymore. You have to specifically agree to adhere to the rules henceforth.

I got a massage from a moderator the Police showed up with 2 warrants and a search dog.
