Sometimes things hit you in the most unexpected ways
I was out doing a little city driving this evening. I happened to pull up to a stop light when a carful of young ladies pulled up beside me. The front passenger had her window down, and she looked at me grinning and gestured for me to roll my window down. I did so and she laughed and told me she was getting married tomorrow and she just wanted everybody to know it!
It was one of those unexpectedly pure moments we spend a lifetime wondering about but rarely experience. The magnificent happiness that was in her face dazzled me. That joyful smile of hers stabbed me in the heart. The total certainty of her future made her the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on. Her smile as I congratulated her melted my heart.
And I'd never seen her before in my life, and probably never will again.
This moment of zen was brought to you by a very inventive universe.
In most places, if the marriage last less than five years, either side can file for a redistrobution of assets (and women usually get a much larger cut than men).
16. It is such moments that make up true happiness.
Yesterday, in my condo parking lot, a mother was walking with her little girl, and the kid had shoes that squeaked like a doggie toy when she stepped. I thought that was cute. I think you have to find joy in little things to be happy and sane.
I witnessed a random act of kindness. Things have been bad at the company. Over 300 people were laid off two weeks ago on what is no known as Black Monday. But today, I saw an employee slip a greeting card in a pocket on the cart of a cleaning crew member. Just because. Restored slightly, my belief that people are inherently good.
