Ms. UBP got sick on her way up to NY...
Need to share this. After yesterday, I get the feeling I'm in for some delayed tress reaction....

Got a phone call at 5am yesterday from the hotel where Ann and Ms. Charlotte were staying. Ann's got bad bad migraine style headache, bad sinuses too, so sick she's throwing up. Feeling miserable and very scared that she wouldn't be able to drive the rest of the way to upsate NY to a family reunion planned for later in the week. 250 miles and more than 4 hours from home, and afraid to wake up the little one and can't even leave her alone in the room to get some ice or Tylenol out of the car or something.

Worse still for me: even if she needed me to drive up there myself and pick them up I couldn't, because my car was in the shop.

What a miserable scenario.

Fortuately her parents were scheduled for staying at the same hotel (they got in very late from DC). Everybody opted for an extra night at the hotel and helped out with Charlotte while Ann got some rest.

I'm gonna call up there in a couple minutes and see how things are. Hopefully - HOPEFULLY - they'll be underway to update NY and I'll be able to join them Friday like we planned.

Jeezus...

1. Delayed tress reaction?
Get to a hairdresser! Immediately!

Seriously, I'm sorry to hear about the migraine. I have them, too. A trip is very likely to bring them on. The solution is to get the right kind of medication from a physician and carry it with you at all times. Yes, even day to day when you leave the house.

There are even suppositories, especially for the ones that combat nausea. Let's face it; sometimes taking medication by mouth is impractical.

In this day and age, there's no need for anyone to suffer like this. A doctor's exam and proper treatment will alleviate the situation.

Another suggestion is to cut out all sugar from the diet. I don't have migraines nearly as often now that I've got that under control. In fact, it only happens when I get careless.

Suggestion two is to carry snacks with you because fasting can aggravate the condition and bring on the headache. Meals should be smaller and go no longer than 4 hours without eating a little something.

Incidentally, the "sinus infection" is part of the syndrome. Calling these attacks "headaches" is something of an understatement.

2. I'm sorry to hear that, dear...
But, no permanent harm done, and you can give them lots of hugs and kisses when they get home.

Get some industrial strength migraine meds for Anne when she's taking long trips, especially with the bambino.

Sending good vibes that the trip home is uneventful.

Cat :hi:

3. Upstate NY!
Wow, I will wave at them as they go cruising by.

Serious, that would be scary, sick and no help.
