my son is pushing a trash can in circles around the kitchen.
On two feet behind it, mind you, and he's learned to navigate the thing, but still. A trash can. Last night he was giving his toy chicken a ride on it.

Ok, we've moved on to the plasticware cabinet.

1. Is your kitchen that messy
that your son has to clean it up?

7. oh yes.
The only accessible cabinets are the ones with plastic and the pan lids he likes to get out and toss. Makes a great noise, if you're ten months and like the sound of metal on vinyl.

6. Next, teach him to walk behind the vacuum cleaner.
Little ones love that VROOM VROOM sound of a motor. The plus side is he'll learn that chores are fun.

8. it's funny.
When I was his age and older, the vacuum scared the absolute hell out of me. He wants to grab it.

11. My 3-year-old is terrified of the vacuum cleaner...
He runs off to his room and hides until I'm done. Gives me a great excuse not to vacuum when I'm feeling lazy though. Don't want to traumatize the poor kid, you know. ;-)

18. When my kids were little...
I had a "special" cabinet just for them. Mostly Tupperware and things with no sharp points.
They thought they were getting into no-no land, but I was way ahead of them. The cabinet
held items I seldom used. I would make a big deal (in a fun kind of way), that they were
disrupting my kitchen. :-)

They are now 28 and 30 now, and they still remember...

Enjoy that little one. He will be gone before you know it.

23. My son doesn't know what a trash can is
You should see his room.

Occasionally he'll go in with a snow shovel and dig it out direct into a garbage bag.
