I passed a breathalyzer test today
I am finally being hired after 6 months of being a contractor. But I have to pass an employee physical before its official. Went to work at 8:30am then to the office at 2pm where I had a urine test (drugs), hearing test, and a breathalyzer test. I thought it was pretty funny that they would be giving me this test in the middle of a work day.

I mentioned it and they said, no, if you give a breathalyzer test to people when they don't expect it you find out that a lot of people are drinking on the job. Wow.

I have perfect hearing and my bp is 102/70.

5. Yes I got the offer Friday
Its been six months. Was supposed to happen after 3. The manager gave me a hard time, then changed his mind, but in the interim a bunch of people were laid off. The position was cancelled as a hire. Then my manager's manager left and my manager got a new manager, who said it was costing them $10K more a year to have me as a contractor than it would as an employee.

So, if I pass the physical and the background check, I should be an employee on Monday, finally!

2. Ah yes! Martini lunches at the Harvard Garden, right across
from MGH...everyday in the 70's when no one did any testing

3. Isn't that a little low?
Normal is 120/80. Mine leans towards 110/75, which raises a few eyebrows.

Do you get dizzy when you stand up?

4. I don't remember the numbers, but the nurses would always look
at my mother and ask her if she was really alive because her bp was so low.

6. Its wonderfully low for someone my age- 49
Its fairly low anyway, but I am on a beta blocker to prevent migraines so that certainly makes it unusually low. Top number is usually 100 plus your age. Keeping it low is really good for your health.

No, I don't get dizzy when I stand up. But when I was younger I fainted due to postural hypotension at least 4-5 times per year.
