Do you want to see babies you don't know??

Don't all babies look the same? Why do people want to see certain babies, like the Jolie/Pitt baby and that Suri baby a la Katie Holmes and the sperm donor (just kidding)...

I ask because there's an ad running on this site that says if you click it you can see the baby pictures. Who wants to see these babies, and why? Am I missing something?

Watching a human baby develop is actually quite amazing, in my experience. Both of mine smiled at three weeks old, and it was an incredible moment to realize that this little being that had grown inside me was approving of me in some way. Their sense of humor develops quite early, and the sound of a baby laughing is delightful. I was a non-baby person who was completely smitten after giving birth. It happens to millions of us.

Now, when I see a baby, I just want to squiiiish their mushy little chubby arms and legs because they are so amazingly soft.

Not trying to be a jerk, just providing a different perspective. :)

P.S. If I had to choose between holding a human baby and a kitten, however, I'd choose the kitten every time ...

7. No, not in the slightest

Except for obvious ethnic differences, they all look the same, and pinched and ugly, to boot. Yaaaaaawn. I especially hate seeing baby photos of people I know, because then you have to feign fascination, wherease with the multitude of Jolies, you can just turn the page unceremoniously.

But then I don't "get" the fascination with babies in general. I much prefer puppies. Far more endearing, entertaining, AND cute.

to look at strangers babies, but I don't dislike babies. In fact, I like them very much. Babies are great. I don't think they all look the same at all.

But I don't expect other people to share all of my interests. So I can't get upset over people who care about things I don't.

When stuck in a slow grocery line, I'd rather check out Batboy's Latest Adventures in the Weekly World News than pick up another tabloid detailing the reproductive lives of celebrities.
