Poll question: DU TOON POLL: Best Theme/Opening for Animated Series
You know, where they play the song and show the credits at the beginning? This question is actually two questions in one because you might like the song but hate the opening, or hate the song and like the opening. Think about it and cast your vote...

3. What? no animaniacs?
I'm no Spielberg fan, but damn I loved that cartoon. So many jokes went way over the heads of its usual audience.

9. Have you seen the opening for Dilbert, though?
I thought of this poll last night when watching it on Comedy Central. It's quite incredible - it starts out with a single-celled organism (wearing Dilbert glasses) that evolves to Dilbert via fish, amphibian, ape and caveman. It cuts to Dogbert printing Dilbert out on a HP Deskjet, foldng him into a paper airplane, which he tosses out into the office. The plane hits a flourescent light, which crackles and burns Alice's pyramid-shaped hair.

Fast forward - the plane lands in the boss's hand, and he crumples it up and tosses it into the wastebasket, but the paper uncrumples showing an aerial view of a panicked Dilbert. The camera pans out revealing Dilbert in his cubicle, surrounded by thousands of cubicles which are all merely a part of his opening logo. All to an awesome drum solo...

Futurama's song and animation are great, but Dilbert's opening has something a little extra. The Simpsons gets honorable mention for the blackboard and the couch gag.

12. I have to counter with "Cowboy Bebop"!
When I heard the opening of that series, the furious jazz pounded its way into my head and I said "holy shit!"
That was so awesome...
(Trigun's is good, too. Don't get me wrong, but damn, did Bebop's opening totally jam.)

Also an excellent song. ^_^ A lot of anime series have really, really good opening songs...I wish American shows would take a cue from them. ^^;;
