After much discussion over the years in the various music newsgroups (rec.music.rock-pop-r&b.1950s, rec.music.rock-pop-r&b.1960s, rec.music.rock-pop-r&b.1970s) about the positives and negatives of the "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame," Bob Roman finally got things rolling in 2001 and started a hall of fame for two of the newsgroups (1950s and 1960s). These "halls of fame" were started as an alternative to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The newsgroup hall of fame encompasses the top artists, singles, albums, album tracks, and significant contributors behind the scenes (producers, DJ's, label owners, songwriters, etc...) in each era.
Each year members of the newsgroups are asked to make nominations in different categories, and the nominees are then put up for a final vote by the members of each group. This page was created as a permanent home for each of the halls of fame, so that anyone who is interested can come here and look at a complete list of all of the inductees in each category from each era.
