1. Bravo!
Me too. Made the switch last month when I moved. No more AT&T and no more Bellsouth! Besides it is MUCH cheaper...:bounce:

4. I went with Comcast here in SF.
I had a home line and business line with AT&T for years along with internet service. I had a flat rate (unlimited) on my business line and all of a sudden got a bill in the mail for $6,000. They said they detected a modem on my line. No shit, it was my fax machine which is allowed. I continued to get grossly inflated bills until ultimately they admitted to me off the cuff that when they said "unlimited" they didn't really mean unlimited and offered - as extortion - to sell me 10,000 minutes for $400 a month when I had been paying $50. This coincided with the NSA spy crap and so I switched to Comcast. Now AT&T is trying to collect $19,000 from me for my business line. Feh.

5. OMG AtomicKitten
That is freakin' outrageous. That is absolutely criminal as far as I am concerned.

10. I'm not asceered of the dirty rat basards
I just visualize the head of AT&T testifying before Congress about how compliant AT&T was in handing over customer records, refusing to answer questions.

7. They were only trying to collect 867.00 off me.
Want to get together and get a lawyer for a class action suit? They also shut off my Internet I had with them for several years and I never missed a payment.

6. I just got a letter from AT&T...
They have sent me to a collection agency. However, I owe them nothing. I have no idea where they got the idea that I owe them? I have written letters, I have made phone calls, I have talked to people in India, yet they continue to bug me for a bill I do not owe. I ask for an itemized bill but have not received that either. Now I get the threat that they have sent me to a collection agency. Any ideas how I should handle it?

9. I'll get back to you after I talk to my attorney.

Because I refused their offer of extortion, to raise my rates from $50 to $400+ a month, they set my rates at their highest, accumulating what they say is an $19,000 bill. I told them flat out I'd pay at my regular rate to close out my bill, and they threatened to send me to collections.

It might make you feel better in the meantime, as it does me, to bad mouth them every chance you get to anyone within earshot. It is unbelievable how many people haven't a clue about the NSA spy crap and how compliant AT&T was with BushCo. I saw the head of AT&T questioned before Congress on CPSAN and he refused to answer questions, saying what they did was legal. Right. Legal in BushWorld.

11. I've had them for about 4 months now
and LOVE it! I pulled both phone and fax lines and my DSL. Switched to Comcast high-speed internet and one vonage line. It's saving me about $80.00 a month. I still owe AT&T over $400.00 (they say) and they've sent me to collections. Tough shit, they'll never see it.
