What does adding someone to your "Buddy" list mean? I have several people
that I pretty much enjoy anything they post. But, their posts are not always in the Journal section.

By adding them to my buddy list, would I get a notification when they post? I never have understood what a Buddy list meant.

1. Adding someone to your buddy list.......
ALL it does is make it easier for you to find them if you want to PM them...

There isn't any mechanism for notifying you if they post.......

BUT if you see something that makes you want to PM them, then you don't have to find them in a thread in order to do that.....

You just go to your buddy list, and there's their name.....and presto, you can PM them, just easy as pie!

That's it!

:hi:

2. also you can use that to track their journal updates
for instance - that's exactly why i have flamingyouth and vash the stampede on my buddy list - they have two of the most interesting journals on DU.

3. Also I use it to keep track of people I think are trolls.
Of course, it's easier to see how long it takes for them to get tombstoned.

BTW, I accidentally put you on ignore for a minute. I was all like, "Ahhh....I can't put progmom on ignore, she's cool!" So I fixed it.

4. It Protects You From Being Banned... Right?
You know... the more people who have you on their buddy list, the more "immunity" you have? Something like that, right?

13. Conversely, If Any One Person Is Put On "Too Many" Ignore Lists...
... then they get automatically banned. The magic number of how many is "too many" is a secret. Only Skinner and Elad know. --- But apparently it's less than 100.

8. I occasionally put someone I don't really know on my buddy list
because I see a really good, thought provoking post they've written. It's a reminder to look up some of their other stuff later when I have time. I've found some awesome DUers that way.

:hi:

...before adding them to your buddy list.

At least that's what hedges, RKZ, BtBM and CStT told me.

15. You just haven't met the right person!
Naturally, it doesn't have to be someone from DU.
