Cat Power - worth seeing?

she is playing for free here tonight - anyone seen her before? My husband has some of her recordings.

Thanks in advance.

2. Go see her. I bet you'll love it.
I don't know if she has solved the live-show occasional melt-down problem yet, but even if she hasn't it will be worth a look.

I would definitely go, if I were you.

6. I should have posted one!
it was good, very experimental and very expressive. I know I shouldn't have been expecting to hear See No Evil or Venus de Milo, but. I have to admit that I wasn't in as ecstatic a state as my alt-guitar massive- noodling buddies. (who gave me some dire looks when I said so!) But it was really cool to see him, nonetheless. The drummer was very good. My husband thought that the guy playing rhythm with him was underused, though.

We missed the Eels, though. :( The report of that from the hipster brethren was - "not impressed.")

You know who was really good? Betty LaVette and Roseanne Cash.

8. for some reason the paper had her listed as playing piano
mostly I've heard her on guitar. But apparently her new album is Memphis soul based. So it should be interesting. I talked my sister into going, so we'll shanghai my son away from the computer and head out for a picnic!

thanks!

7. I'd go.
Her early shows were a total mess, but she's gotten it together. I quite enjoyed myself the last time I saw her perform.

I was just this minute! thinking, I wonder what Asth would say....

cue creepy music here.

and if you read my Tom Verlaine comments above, I'd probably be due for multiple lashes with a guitar string.... can there be too much of a good thing? ;)

10. the show was very interesting
she had an excellent Memphis style blues/soul type band, with backup singers, and she alternated with her quiet introspective stuff, and unusual commentary. Her voice was very beautiful.

people who know her older stuff were surprised at the type of show that it was.
