42. A few years ago a friend played the song
"Miracles" at her wedding. When I heard the first few bars of the song I accidently snorted champagne up my nose.

Nothing like playing a song that is the playbook for the wedding night seduction!

If only you believe like I believe, baby
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, baby
So would I
If only you believe like I believe, baby
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, baby
So would I.

I might have to move heaven and earth to prove
It to you, baby
So we're makin' love and you feel the power
And I feel the power
Then there's really nothing that we can't do
If we wanted to, baby
We could exist on the stars
It'd be so easy
All we gotta do
Is get a little faith in you
Oh, I've been (to) so many places
I've seen some things
I know, love is the answer
Keeps holding this world together
Ain't nothing better
Ain't nothing better
And all the answers to our prayers
Hell , it's the same everywheres, baby
Nothing ever breaks up the heart
Only tears give you away
Then you're right where I found ya
With my arms around ya
Oh baby, baby, baby, love is a magic word, yeah
Few ever find in a lifetime
But from that very first look in your eyes
I knew you and I had but one heart
Only our bodies were apart
That was so easy, so easy
I had a taste of the real world
When I went down on you, girl.

If only you believe like I believe, baby
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, baby
So would I
If only you believe like I believe, baby
We'd get by
If only you believe in miracles, baby
So would I.

I can hear windmills and rainbows
Whenever you're talkin' to me
I feel like swirling and dancin'
Whenever you're walking with me
You ripple like a river when I touch you
When I pluck your body like a string
When I start dancin' inside ya
Oh baby, you make me wanna sing
Yeah, baby, baby, baby, baby
Oh yeah, all right
Baby, we're sure doin' it tonight
Everytime you come by, let me try
Pretty, please sugar on it
That's how I like it
I can't even believe it, with you
It's like having every dream I ever wanted
Come true
I picked up your vibes
You know it opened my eyes
But I'm still dreamin' yeah
And you're right where I found ya
With my arms around ya.

46. Jefferson Starship, inn'nt?
I dunno....I can't see why that's such a weird song. Sure, it talks about sex, and it isn't the BEST song, IMHO, but whatever.

It's better than, say, "Every Breath You Take"--which is seriously more of a stalker song than a declaration of love. I don't get why so many people feel the need to have it as "their" song.

61. Last time I heard Every Breath You Take at a wedding
I was drunk and laughed so hard that I peed on my bridesmaid dress.

Miracles was funny because it was an inside joke amongst our group of friends and most of the people didn't get it there. They thought it was sweet. We knew it was their sex song.

BTW-I did ask the groom if he had planned on getting a taste of the real world that night. He cracked up and then stole my Jack and Coke out of my hand.

My mom seems to alternate between feeling like I'm betraying her by having health/disability issues, and thinking that that if she ignores it all it will just go away.

Of course, my twin brother is healthy, married, has given her a grandchild, and he lives nearby. I can't imagine how she's feel if it was both of us.

13. Recognition of my own temporality/ephemerance.
I truly believe the world began about 5:20 a.m. Eastern time, 9/18/1972. All this business about history prior to my being born is just silly talk. If I could shake the notion that I am a unique, immortal being possessed of genuine individuality, and for once adopted the notion that I am, in fact, an organic robot, spouting pre-programmed nonsense until I chemically wind-down or am otherwise deceased, I should know absolute terror, except that, of course, the proof is in the "poofin", and I would have to actually be non-extant to really know what it is I fear--a logical improbability, and why I also snicker at the fear of hell.

71. That's not as bad as a polar bear tied to a pendulum.
I got into a discussion about this with a guy in my English class, when we were reading 'The Pit and the Pendulum'. He said that he couldn't think of a worse way to die, and I said it would be worse to be eaten by a polar bear. And then we decided that the worst way to die would be to be tied down and eaten by a polar bear that was tied to a pendulum that was slowly getting lower. That would suck a lot, wouldn't it?

If you aren't quite invisioning how much this would, in fact, suck, here's a picture:

If you had known me before my daughter was born 3 1/2 years ago, you'd have thought I was a pretty unemotional guy - I could have been Mr. Spock's younger brother on Star Trek.

However, since that time, every time I read about a tragic death of a young person, I get all misty eyed... even if it's a person halfway across the world, or in a newspaper as dry as the Wall St. Journal.

Alzheimer's - not knowing what was going on from one moment to the next - might actually make the situation easier to bear. What I would hate is being helpless, useless, immobile, unable to contribute in a meaningful way to my environment, incontinent, lonely, smelly, (conventionally) unattractive, old and in the way, waiting for death AND fully aware of all those facts.

=shudder=

Wow. I think I'm gonna cry now, for all the old people who ARE that way right now, as well as for the fact that it might be me some day...

75. Conservative right wing nuts!
Mommy, I'm scared, please make them stop. I've been saying that for what feels like most of my life now. Here's the deal. I live in a red state. They creep me out. I'm desparately trying to finish college, so I can make enough money and escape. Shhh. Don't tell them. They will do everything in their power to trap me here and torture me for the rest of my life. They are miserable people and they don't want anyone else to be happy. I'm not too sure about them. Did you hear that? Must just be me being paranoid. Or is it?

Not long after typing that other reply to the op, I began hearing things. Maybe I need professional help. :P

78. Dieing alone
I won't allow that to happen to anyone I love.

But I know it will be my fate and it scares me.

80. Bears
and monkeys. I will continue to assiduously avoid any place where I can run into either one of those creatures.
Weird, isn't it?
