Poll question: Your favorite Christmas Crooner?
Memories of childhood. No Handel here (for another post), and no Whitney Houston/Michael Bolton/Celine Dion/Mariah Carey stuff; this is for those who knew how to sing a song, not to show off their pipes. OK, and be sure to leave a comment.

3. People forget what a great voice Doris Day had.
Everyone remembers her from her films...particularly the ones she made with Rock Hudson.

But what a great voice she had. I particularly liked her version of "Secret Love"

6. "A Christmas Song" - as good as Nat King Cole's version
She knew how to sing a song. When is the Kennedy Center going to consider her for honors? An American icon.

18. Yes...she 's ready for the Kennedy Center Honors.
It's time to give Doris Day her due. AND I think she deserves a lifetime Oscar for her film career.

I heard that Doris Day is completely retired from show business,

Did you know that she was approached for the role of Mrs. Robinson in "The Graduate"? She turned it down because of the subject matter.

10. And, your point is. . . .?
Being as I am of the Jim Morrison era (younger, though, only 52), I would like to know what point you are making here. Go ahead, please.

8. Memories Are Made of This....
I voted Dean Martin because I still listen to Dean every day on my computer. Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On and Red Roses For A Blue Lady take me back to my childhood and ever since my dad died I yearn to hear these songs and invoke memories.
Also, Dean's got a playful growl when he sings some of the old Christmas songs like Rudolf and Marshmellow World.

I like Frank Sinatra too....he does a great job on the caroles but his voice doesn't have that super-cool-smooth-as-velvet quality likes Dino's.

13. Ah, but he knew how to sing a song. In fact, he defined it.
Sinatra never put himself before the music - he interpreted it, just right. That's why he was the greatest of the 20th century. And, Dean was right there. At 13, I remember tilting my head and wondering how he could be so wonderful on "Everybody Loves Somebody, Sometime." You get it. Thanks.

15. This movie with Jon Voight
"The Odessa File".

There's a song in it in both English and German. Don't know the title, but I believe it was sung by Perry Como.

He did the best version of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" ever. He should have been listed. Most definitely. If only in my dreams.
