1. My friend worked for a doctor and a patient came in with
hiccups that he was having for a week. To stop them, take a cotton swab and touch your uvula (that little piece of skin hanging down in the back of your mouth) with it.

Works every time!

3. Heh
Caledesi, I swear, I had to read your post twice, because I first read "uvula" as "vulva" and I was thinking WTF could that possibly have to do with hiccups??????????

Anyway, the Q-tip to the soft palate did the trick. Thanks! Hiccups all gone now.

6. OMG! When I read your post I thought at first I made a "Freudian"
typo and typed vulva....LOL!

Glad they are gone. That little trick has never failed.

2. Hiccup cures: this never fails.
Tickle the roof of your mouth, gently. Soft palate... tickle your palate. :)

No kidding.

5. hiccup trivia
learned about this when I went with my sister to birthing classes

there are 2 types of hiccups (can't remember the details)
the irritation starts in different places and results in having the hiccups. One reacts to sweets the other to sour

first cure - take a teaspoon of sugar, add a few drops of water to make it liquidy, may need to do this a couple of times

if that doesn't work then try - a teaspoon of lemon juice, followed by a glass of water. don't mix it and take it - take the lemon juice first, wait a minute and then follow it up with water

7. Neither of those remedies work for me.
Tried the vinegar, and bingo, hiccups gone.
