It should be fun getting home tonight (floods)
The Northeast has gotten more rain these past few days then it has had in the past 5 months.

The Schuylkill river was lapping at the tracks under my train this morning, and the conductor said they let a damn release upriver, so he doubted there would be too many more trips on that line today.

Ugh. Last time this happened, I had to have the carpet ripped out of my car....

1. Might I suggest a flat bottom bass boat
With a ten horse Mercury outboard motor on it.

Sorry for all the hell this is causing you folks in the NE. I live in Missouri and have been through a number of floods, including the Big One in '93. It always sucks to be flooded out.

And yeah, you might as well figure that once the carpet gets wet, it will have to be ripped out and tossed away.

Perhaps a jet ski might be in order:shrug: Might as well get as much fun from the insanity as possible.

2. I can see the river from here, and it looks brown & angry
At least I have the option of taking another line that doesn't flood.

I shouldn't expect flood sympathy from a Missourian!!!

8. We had friends move into condos on the river
and the first thing we told them is "if you even HEAR the word 'flood' mentioned, move your car to higher ground". The same places get hit over and over - Manyunk, Miquon, and the Conshohocken & Spring Mill train stations.

Glad they pulled Meyers FINALLY.

4. Oh, you'll always get flood sympathy from this Missourian
Floods flat out suck, and cleanup takes forever it seems. We've been lucky as far as flooding goes around here for about ten years. Now we're having to deal with a drought that's been going on since last year.

Stay as dry as you can, and I wish you all the best in your current problems. Watching the weather last night, I think that this is your last serious day of rain, and then you'll start to dry out. Stay dry and safe:hi:

5. We got hit hard in Scranton, too.
I'm house-sitting for my parents in Scranton at a place about 5 blocks from the Lackawanna river. The good news is that they put up dikes and flood gates a few years ago. The bad news is that the gate on the opposite side of the river couldn't be closed. So, needless to say, my parents house is safe, but the properties on the other side must have gotten 4-5 feet of water yesterday. It's mostly a commercial/industrial area across the river, but it still sucks for the handful of residences over there.

9. Yikes, I guess the Delaware is pretty high
It's weird to hear about all this flooding, when its a sunny, hot day without rain...
