Enough with guns and death, what's the best movie love scene?

1. Oh..
Edited on Sat Dec-13-03 02:06 AM by Blade
an hour into the movie "Debbie Does Dallas 2000," with the two females showing how much they love each other....wait...you don't mean this kind of love scene, do you?

I'll shutup now....

2. Don't make fun of me but...
the scene where Oliver gets in the hospital bed with Jenny when she is dying. That's such a dated, hokey, terrible movie, but that scene gets me every time.

6. Don Juan
De Marco - at the beginning, from when he sits down at the woman's table in the restaurant to when he deposits her back at her table. The look on her face makes a pretty convincing argument that she thought it was the best love scene ever.

20. Porno Alert.
That was a full-on porno scene IMO!! Not a love scene really.

If you liked that check out the movie from Spain, "Dias Contados." It's a cool Basque Separatist suspense thriller but has a Betty Bleu type opening scene.

It cracked me up that the Sharon Stone scene made such headlines here...Euro films have been waaaay ahead on that for 20 years!

10. Yes!
I rented Don't Look Now not long ago. Had forgotten how explicit the love scene was. And erotic.

11. Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin
in The Big Easy. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly in Bound. William Hurt and Kathleen Turner in Body Heat. Kim Basinger and Russell Crowe in L.A. Confidential. I just can't make up my mind. Oh, almost forgot, Robert Mitchum and Jane Greer in No Way Out.

16. I thought I was the only one
who found the Dennis Quaid/Ellen Barkin scene in The Big Easy to be very erotic. I also liked the soundtrack, good music.

Sorry I couldn't resist. I'd say the Susan Sarandon Catherine deneuve scene in "The Hunger".

13. Nicholas Cage in "Moonstruck"
"Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn't know this either, but love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess.

"We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die."

It's not a scene of kissing, etc., but his speech & her response are the essence of crazy love.

Second suggestion: Any scene in Hitchcock's "Notorious" with Ingrid Bergman & Cary Grant sharing the screen.

14. In a little known film called "The Velocity of Gary"
Vincent D' Onofrio (from Law and Order) and Thomas Jane has this INCREDIBLE scene where they are passionately making out. It truly is one of the hottest love scenes I've ever seen. :-)

17. This is a bit unusual- "It's a Wonderful Life"
Since there's no graphic anything involved. In the movie, when Mary is on the phone with Sam and George is there visiting. Just before, Mary and George have a fight before and he leaves, comes back for his hat, then Sam wants to talk to George. They talk and then he has thing whole emotional surrender to Mary, they kiss passionately, and realize they are supposed to be together. That scene always gets me, not in a "turns me on" kind of way so much, but the whole passion behind it that captures that feeling that causes people to just "let go and give into to it" is rather erotic in a sort of underlying, subtle way.

There's plenty of graphic stuff out there which can be nice as well (more than 'nice' at times), but this captures a feeling, an essence of what love can be about.

22. Got to agree with Bull Durham -
bathtub scene. Kiss in most recent Spiderman movie between Spiderman and Mary Jane. A few scenes in St. Elmo's Fire. For just plain love, Casablanca when Bogie sends her off on the plane. Also, I think Harold and Maude ( one of my favorites) has great, really heartfelt and sad love scenes.

If that scene didn't make you shift uncomfortably in your seat you need to see a medical professional.
